Wholeheartedly agree with you. I’m ok with the idea of buying cards if there isn’t a $20 entry ticket into the game (even if said entry gives you 10 boosters). I’d also be ok with buying the game if I could grind for cards. But both seems excessive.

As an on again/off again long term Magic player I can definitely say that these card games are all exorbitant scams. Magic is a huge money sink and scam, just because it’s incredibly well designed and fun and the greatest card game of all time doesn’t change that. That is excluding the players who started at launch and already dropped cash on the base game and the first two DLCs. Sure coming in brand new to the game right now is a deal but not so much for anyone who started out from the beginning.
