Why? Full replacement, maybe $1500 for parts...that’s obviously not cheap, but worth it IMO. And that’s everything, chances are many parts could be saved.
“The A/C is also said to suffer a rapid leak”
Ah, fair enough. Interior parts are always the redheaded stepchildren of the aftermarket. Understandably so to some degree as those are often plastic injection molded pieces with multi-thousand dollar molds. That’s one thing I’m hoping 3D printing will finally help. Would be awesome to 3D scan some plastic parts…
This guy has the capital to start an OK side hustle that could be useful to a lot of people that are down on their luck due to Covid right now. Sell most for what you can get, use the profits to buy your next $300 car that with $700 of your time and parts costs can be sold for $1500 or $2K. You get the HOA off your…
Very cool. I noticed the emblem and wondered about the backstory.
Someone get this man Oppo authorship STAT!
The Good:
Sure thing. For what it’s worth, if that Jag were in better condition and/or a more desirable model (like an XJ12, oo lah lah) I’d be here telling you to just rip the Jag motor out and put an LS or something in there. The one you’ve got though, I’m with David. I don’t see it ever being worth the effort you’d have to…
I’ll buy the XK8.
Get rid of them all and buy a beige (champagne gold) Camry. That’s what the HOA ultimately want us all to do right?
My thought is why have “duplicates” in a fleet of (essentially) ordinary cars. Sure, maybe if you’re into just a couple of specific models, maybe it’s okay to have duplicates. But with this kinda stuff, the relatively similar quality of condition, function, and quality of experience, it just doesn’t make sense to…
Oh I misread that the engine was shot in the LeBaron. In that case (and seeing as you sold the cavalier) I'd throw it in with the green Sebring as a possible keeper/seller.
Keep:
A solution I don’t see proposed yet... PLANTS!
“let me just note how amazed I am that you put so much time and effort into vehicles this crappy.”
I second
Obviously he likes buying clunkers and fixing them; just tweak the hobby a little - buy, fix, and sell before getting attached. Maybe make a profit and use that profit to buy better and better cars.
There’s a running Dodge Dynasty that parks in my neighborhood!
