1) Explain, please.

Richard Rankin is a good actor but they just ruined him this season.

A couple of years ago, that would have made me sad but I honestly wouldn’t care at this point. I kind of wish that they would break out of their book-a-season conceit. There’s enough interesting stuff in the last four books to make two good seasons of television but there isn’t enough interesting (to me) stuff in…

I’m aware that its ratings are down on Starz - and deservedly so - but Netflix has been advertising it as a Netflix Original (and it might be thriving there instead).

The books are flawed in terms of plotting.  The show is flawed in terms of character development and it’s handicapped by DG’s terrible plotting. 

Their pattern of introducing a character who you would think would fill that role, and then killing them off almost immediately is definitely getting pretty grating.

I really hope Bonnet died in that explosion, but somehow I don’t think we’re that lucky.

Is anyone else ready for Jocasta to say, “screw them all” and ban all these annoying, entitled future women from her house?

I mean that BookBrianna is definitely unlikable, not that she’s supposed to be.  We’re supposed to love her and Roger the way we love Jamie and Claire but it doesn’t work in either version.

I second this. Folks need to leave the books out of the show discussion. 

Nope. I posted this last week, too, but if it’s necessary to have read the books to understand the show, then the show has failed.

I honestly can’t tell if this is real or not.  If not, good work. 

As someone who has read the books, I’m excited that you all finally get to learn that Brianna is the worst.

I’m still underwhelmed and I say that as someone who loves the book very much. It’s just still paced so very strangely.

Don’t go by these reviews - the reviewer apparently watches with only about half her attention because she’s always getting things wrong and missing important points. I had a whole rant typed up about this particular review but I apparently didn’t actually hit “publish.”
