I wanted to be mad but I’ve got nothing. The only thing keeping me going for that shit team now is spite. I just hope they at least get to one God Damn Super Bowl before I die. I’m not holding my breath either.

Good luck Stef! I’d love to try and do that someday. I haven’t done any organized road racing at all though. I’m hoping that in a few seasons with my 84 GTI I’ll get comfortable enough to do some HPDE events with an instructor and then think about finding a LeMons or Chump car team to help out with.

Even if I think you’re still bat shit crazy I have to admire your determination. If I were you I’d put this damn thing on a trailer and get it to Moab that way though. If it were me I’d rather say I got to drive it @ Moab vs. breaking down a couple hundred miles away and scrapping the whole trip.

Never heard of “A Car is Born” but I’ll definitely have to watch this! I’ve always said that my “realistic dream car” is a Cobra kit car. I want to have one shipped to me in crates and build the whole god damn thing from scratch with my own hands. Not a realistic goal anytime soon for me but it will be one awesome

Ugh, you’re making me miss my MK3 now. :( I had the same setup minus the lightened flywheel in a 98 GLX VR6. Got rid of it when it was getting pretty clear that the rot was about to come on pretty strong. My rockers and fender lips underneath the side skirts and the euro textured flares were getting ripe. I

Eh, not really. I’ve never thought to myself “There’s always speed traps on this 3 mile stretch, keep it to 4th gear.” Driving based on what could happen and not what is that much would be kind of silly to me.

I may put it in 3rd though if I’m leaving a light or a stop sign and I have a cop behind me though. If

I think it is insensitive and cold hearted to want to get rid of any memorial of this type, but I think there should be a reasonable “life span” on this stuff, and if people want to keep adding to it and keep it going then someone should be taking care of it. You don’t go to cemetaries and see mounds of candles,

We all process greif differently. I can see the mentality of making a memorial out of that place being a comforting thing if regardless of whether or not you mark it every time you drive past that corner, or guardrail, or tree you’re going to remember exactly what happened there and who you lost. If it’s distressing

This is where a good old fashioned dealer network with a Service Center, Parts Dept, and Body Shop come into play and make the whole experience significantly easier.

If this was all done “in house” the bodyshop guys would know how to dismantle and reassemble them (or ask a tech already paid by the dealership) and the

You haven’t worked on any VWs I take it. I swear there are components that are ONLY easy to work on if the motor is out during initial assembly. Like the hard plastic water hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the block behind the water pump UNDER the lower intake manifold and is also so failure prone that

Does CA continue to be the tail wagging the dog forever, even to the point where compliance is impossible, or excessively costly to the consumer? Hard to say.

If other states decided to impose strict emissions regulations like California I think most automakers would ultimately decide to develop cars to be compliant with the most strick regulations and sell them in other markets as well. I work in the furniture industry and CA is of course also the state with the most

I’m usually very prudent and reasonable with my speed in snowy weather (but I WILL NOT crawl at 30 mph on the freeway if it isn’t necessary) and stick to no more then 45-50 if I think the road conditions warrant it.

What I find more bothersome frankly is the people that are going overly slow at like 30 and have zero

They didn’t like you! I got pretty lucky when I got pulled over for an equally sad “epic stoplight race” between my 94 Plymouth Acclaim and my buddies 84 Caddy. He drove past me when I was getting in my car at McDonalds (the cruising turn around spot) and revved the motor while he passed. We got to main street and

Nice prelude! I owned a 3rd gen back when the 5th gens had 1st came out and I desperately wanted one. Way out of my price range at the time though. Now I suppose I could go out and get one easily but it doesn’t check any particular box aside from nostalgia for me to want one now.

The second hand “mud tires” I bought for my old S-10 Blazer beater were actually WORSE in snow then the old all seasons that came on it when I bought the thing. It did “look a lot cooler” then the “car tire” all seasons that the truck had when I bought it. Definitely didn’t help me at all though.

I always drop down to the speed limit or 2-3 mph below if I see a cop ahead or have one behind me. If they don’t want to pull me over and they get sick of driving behind a slow moving car they’ll pass. I wouldn’t try and make it a point to be evasive about not passing them or making eye contact though.

I agree that it’s absurd to pull someone over driving in a straight line on a flat road who isn’t fishtailing or sliding, but you’re also the rare exception here. Just because you THINK you are a better driver or have a vehicle that is better equipped to drive in snow doesn’t mean that you are. All it takes is one

I’ve been thinking the same. It’s kind of comical how poorly secured my 84 GTI would really be. :p

They snatched the whole thing up, knowing that without even seeing what’s inside they could probably assume that it was a show car going to Autorama. It was a soft target. If I were there for the show I’d seriously drive from as far away as Lansing or Bay City the morning of just so it wasn’t blatantly obvious what
