We have 3 billion “letters” in our DNA, and this study looked at, literally, three of them. As a study design, that’s excellent; they’re testing a specific hypothesis.

It’s super important to recognize that people didn’t hit their targets (which is why I made sure to point it out!) but that doesn’t make this a garbage study.

I’m glad that there is a bit of a backlash against the hegemony of ipa beers. I like some of them, but brewers in the US are ignoring an entire world of beers by focusing all their efforts on ipas. After a while they all start to blend together, with nary a mention for other beers.

20 Years ago I would drink IPAs and ESBs. An average IPA now is hoppier than ESB used to be. This hops arms race has gone too far.

Then don’t go. It’s cheaper for the couple if you don’t go, you’ll obviously have a better time, and you can still send a gift and a card. Seriously, why go if all you want is a few free glasses of wine? Spend the money and go drink somewhere you won’t be miserable.

Historically, I make two types of chili. The default is my vegan chili, but since people complain, I will sometimes concede and add meat.

“So, every grocery, convenience, and liquor store is doing it wrong?”

That Foggy Geezer was just okay. I think I preferred Lazurite between the two. Then again, my market has been flooded with haze all summer long. Which brings me to pilsners... I don’t care if they’re doing it to be rebellious or as a personal challenge, I’m happy to have something other than five slightly different

Never have tax issues by over paying!

Let me start by saying that as far as I’m concerned I think people should drink whatever they want made by whomever they want.

It’s a feedback loop. They can call someone for mansplaining and if the man does ANYTHING other than politely accept the accusation, they are then further guilty of mansplaining. It’s a tactic to control the interaction. The example above is simply patronizing condescension and happens all the time to men/women by men

‘Water is wet’ one scientist claims.

Sweet article. Also it’s pronounced JIF.

Is it flaunting literary privilege to say that anyone going into a production of 1984 without some idea of what they’re going to see deserves what they get?
