A few years back, I used the DS3Tool, or MotionInJoy (same thing? can't remember) to connect my PS3 controller to my PC. It could be extremely wonky, and I remember it hated Vista, only working half the time. I also hate the PS3 controller compared to the Xbox 360 controller - the thumb sticks just feel way too loose.

As a wannabe writer, I found that scene was both horrifying and cathartic.

Honestly? I think the fact that you're covering this is fucking awesome. More of these in-depth sub-culture articles, please. Really digging the direction Kotaku is taking lately (and not just because it's exploring "taboo" ground like nude mods, which most gaming websites wouldn't give a thoughtful feature).

As much as I want to play this game (and this screenshot mode really speaks to my habitual F12 nature on Steam), I ought to finish the two Rocksteady Batman games I haven't even installed yet.

"Half-Life 3 fans."

I tackled AC4 after a marathon through pretty much all of the AC games in a fairly short period of time. I just couldn't get into ACIV - it was too massive. And now Unity is almost upon us! I think I just need to give up and realize I don't have time for most AAA games anymore. Honestly, most of my time these days is

Skipping sidequests is something I still haven't learned to do, and it keeps me from finishing pretty much any semi-open world game. It's a problem.

Yeah, honestly I'd like to finish the game just to see more of his madness. They really did an incredible job with the animation, modeling, and voice work, from what I've seen thus far.

I played Blood Dragon first, actually, and ended up 100%-ing that one. It was so many levels of cheesy awesome, I couldn't help myself.

Whoah. That trailer gave me some serious chills.

That actually seems like a really apt analogy.

This is such a salient fucking point, and I've seen it a few times now, in comment threads on articles about this #GamerGate bullshit.

I'm glad to hear that, and I hope you don't have to put up with any of the bullshit Allaway had to deal with here.

As someone who has been a nerd, an other, and completely obsessed with video games since I could press buttons, I agree with this statement. Just when I thought "gamer" was no longer a negative stereotypical term, describing pigeonholed "basement dwelling neckbeards," and more inclusive of diversity and normal people

That was a fascinating article - thanks for sharing it. I think it's an important perspective that has been lacking, and it blows my mind that there are so many comments from the #GamerGate types on the article that just miss the fucking point completely, seeing it as condescending, and an attack on them, rather than

Ah, Kotaku. I might be in covert burner mode now, but I've been with you for - what - six, seven years now? I remember when there were two Brians on board, and the beard jokes went on for days. I remember "The July 4th Massacre," when the ban hammer brought down a mass exodus, and the once strong commenter community

Honestly, I'm probably the worst person to ask on that.

Hear, hear!

He's one of my favorites, too. He once even added my old non-burner Kotaku account on Steam, and has yet to delete me, even though he probably has no idea who I am anymore - bless his heart.

I honestly forget he's not writing for the site anymore, sometimes.
