I tried it out on GamePass not long ago. The whole thing just had a slightly unfinished feel. There’s potential to it, but I think it needs to tighten up its gameplay loops, and find ways to make exploring ruins more fun.

“Turn off the HUD”
I mean, fair point overall. I won’t let a single review change my mind, but I will let this information temper my expectations. Kotaku is generally a shadow of its former self, and maybe even a shadow of that shadow. Agree that that is primarily what I come here for also. That said, John is one of the more intentional…
The game is great. You really should play it.
I wouldn’t write it off based on this one review. Every other one I’ve read has been pretty overwhelmingly positive. Kotaku has become notorious for writing negative, condescending, clickbait titles since the scandal a few years back and subsequent staff changes. I only come to scan headlines and see if I’ve missed…
I really enjoyed this game on Game Pass right up until I didn’t. Mainly, it was just too long. I think I got a solid 60 hours in before I stopped. It kinda reminded me of DQ7 where they don’t even introduce the job system until about 20 hours in. I’m hoping the next game is a little more balanced out in terms of…
Can we just acknowledge for a second that the developers made a 140-hour long joke about a haircut? incredible.
Wait are you saying a game probably isn’t enjoyable unless the reviewer specifically uses the word “fun” in the review? Because that’s a really bizarre way to navigate the world.
Had this same thought as well, the moment these get assigned out and say Bella Goth isn’t interested in women anymore or whatever there’s going to be so much “outrage” online.
He doesn’t need it to be in public domain. Weird Al’s work doesn’t violate copyright (because parody is fair use, and he’s obviously parodic), he just prefers not to upset people, since his intention isn’t to actually mock them. The “asking for permission” thing is just him being nice.
“Amber Heard may not be a great person”
You live a pretty cushy life if this is your standard for “abhorrent”. It was almost certainly a simple mistake. Not everything is racism. Jesus.
To be fair, if this happened in any other context you’d probably wouldn’t hear about it, so there’s potentially some sampling bias going on.
Her defense didn’t have a great case. Hard to defend a defamation case when your client can’t stop perjuring herself on the stand.
“And yet, the scars of seeing how truly cruel the court of public opinion can be for any self-identifying woman who alleges abuse and assault are indelible.”
Yeah that’s my question here too. They appeared to be in the tradition of the Addams family (directly inspired by, even), so potentially Mediterranean, but not “mixed-race” unless we count white “races” like it’s 1910s not the 2020s.
The Goths were supposed to be mixed race? What races are they supposed to be? I guess I always figured they were all from Europe and at most, Bella was from a more southern/Mediterranean part of Europe and so had more tanned/olive skin than some other characters. (Italy, maybe?)
Literally the first I’m hearing of it too, and I consider myself pretty up to date on electronics/gaming news.
You should definitely try My Time at Portia (out now) / Sandrock (goes early access the 26th)
I’m so sick of this person showing up on kotaku.
