For the record, the Kindle 1 had an experimental browser as well. I know because I have a Kindle 1.

For what it's worth, QuickDesk does this too - a home screen "replacement" that augments the home screen. Same keypresses - double tap home, or long press search or whatever.

@dcdttu: Stock batteries also have a break-in period that extends the battery a life by a lot. So you got double battery life, but I'm willing to bet it's not ATK. Try disabling it for a bit and see if the battery is still as good.
