One of my FAVE XKCDs <3

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE

Yeah, I thought Anna was on the conspiracy beat nowadays

My GOD it’s like when your Memaw says something vaguely anti-Semitic at the breakfast table with your Jewish boyfriend you brought home for Christmas except these days it’s the WHOLE DAMN SOUTH.

Nah, he just had his fingers crossed behind his back at all of his weddings!

I am too! Again, very early on.

Anna. I love you. This was fascinating. You’re wonderful.

I mean, that’s kind of the CW’s wheelhouse

Google tells me just last year!

I see any of the Spice Girls and I’m ten years old again not really understanding the lyrics to 2 Become 1 <3

makes sense to me

Not gonna lie, it’s still my go-to subway game—-I like to have a mindless activity while I listen to my podcasts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey, I know a girl from college who married a dude whose last name is Hamburger, but it was actually his family’s name.

Ooh, I might have to tell my mom about that book! She has always loved the Little House books, and when I was a teen one of our vacations took a detour to quite a few of the locations from the series (the sod house from Plum Creek, the surveyor’s cabin from Long Winter, a couple others) and she encouraged me to read

That makes me think of a story my mom tells about how she and her sister were so upset about the Watergate coverage because it preempted Petticoat Junction! She was around 10 and my aunt was around 5, and they would chant “we hate Watergate!”

I said upthread that one of the things I’m most excited about my sister/best friend/me having children someday is to be able to introduce them to so many amazing books I loved as a kid!

The Phantom Tollbooth!! UGH so great. I spent all of elementary and middle school SO EXCITED about reading, and I’m so pleased that I was able to devour all of these books. One of the things I’m most excited about my sister/best friend/me having children someday is to be able to introduce them to so many amazing books

Really need to reread this—I remember it blowing my mind when I was about ten years old. So friggen great.

No worries :)
