The first episode, they take the piss out of the Neapolitan pizza mystique... and in the process they (David Chang and friends) are telling really compelling personal stories about chefs, home cooks, immigrants, and rebels. It’s really, really good.

I am with you 100%. I am pretty carnivorous, but octopus is a bit like dolphin or primates.

Have you started watching Ugly Delicious on Netflix? This is a recurring theme. I have always been sucker for the romantic notion of “authenticity.” But, now I have come full circle and think its bullshit. It’s better to use the local ingredients.

But don’t you think that when we are talking about wine, the anti-classists rant gets a bit weird. I mean the bad guys, here, are the big evil corporations producing wine at a price point that regular people can afford. And the good guys are the ones that are producing wines that no one except the rather privileged

I do not like the crumb scraper. I feel like it was designed to make me feel ashamed and self-conscious about the amount of crumbs in front of me. Everyone else at the table gets a quick brush and the server has to spend five minutes scraping my crumbs and then has to go back to the kitchen a grab the shopvac. 

I thought it was the prequel Emoticons. 8^0

Yes! I do! I also think its fine that cartoons characters drop anvils on each other’s heads. Because these are works of fiction. Maybe this makes me “problematic.” I can live with that label.

I was not the biggest fan of the book. (But my 12-year old son really liked it.) That said, the hate and backlash is so over-the-top that I feel obligated to like it.

I actually knew this but forgot. Now, I associate MBJ more with Friday Night Lights than The Wire. You gotta hand it too him. The kid knew how to pick good projects.

Any athlete (in any major sport) that is good enough to get drafted as an 18-year-old will be able to pay for a degree (if they want one). And likely, pay for a degree for all of their siblings, cousins, and close acquaintances.
