This thing is not wearing any production-spec exterior pieces.

Yeah, I know it was a mistake.

It takes a certain kind of special to write the crap you’ve said. The comment is SEPARATE from the article. The comment did NOT include reliability. Read sentences carefully next time.
Name a place where he even MENTIONED reliability! He didn’t! He said it was a better option and that’s the ONLY point. I agree massively with it because holding reliability and price equal, I would much rather have a vehicle with an actual engine.
“...Toyota Civic...”
My GS400 will do 161 mph stock and I got it for less than that. Winner?
Nothing is wrong with the design of these! YOU try designing a massive SUV to be flowing, modern, and not resemble a box!
Every time I saw them they reminded me of a truck.
500E should have been first and you know it.
Silver.. because it always brings the best out of good cars.
What’s sad is you probably can’t even recognize what my username means or what is even pictured in it. If you did, or even looked at my previous posts, you would realize I’ve owned Mercedes-Benz products for over 20 years.
That’s bullshit, frankly. There’s a hell of a lot of people who consider the 1UZ-FE the best engine in modern history. There’s thousands of people who would literally kill to get their hands on a pristine example.
That’s absolutely not true. It was the fastest for 3 years by technically 1 mph but those small, pedantic, statistics make nearly no noticeable difference in driving. The fact is, the GS was a much more advanced, and better built vehicle than any BMW at the time. I will personally vouch that it handles superior to an…
Ok, you do understand that the GS400 went on sale in 1997, right? Like I said above, the E39 M5 took its crown away. Saying the word “fastest” is a generalized term.
It was certified as the world’s fastest production sedan. That’s not necessarily a “top speed” figure, however I can tell you the actual number is higher than that (about 162). They were the fastest accelerating and set the fastest lap times.
You might want to read (or even glance) at what I said. Nothing involved an LS400.
Screw anymore German cars. I picked up my new (to me) 2000 GS400 today and that thing is heaven on wheels (mmmm mmm 1UZ-FE). Only 77k miles. I’m very happy. Oh yeah, and it’s less than half of $15k. It WAS the fastest sedan in the world before the E39 M5.
Go back to Gawker? NOW who has the reading comprehension problems? I have been known to be one of the most conservative commenters on Jalopnik for years. The person who posted the original comment is exactly the opposite.
I need to work on MY reading comprehension? You need to WATCH the actual testimony. NONE of that happened! What he said is not how these hearings take place.
