Meanwhile, all I got from this is that it should not be in any way acceptable to refer to a Tesla Model 3 as an “M3".

Now that turbos have taken over, the market for these “old school” rides will start to climb.

I want to know all about the AWD system. Specifically, how is experience of activating and using RWD mode- arguably this car’s most important feature. I want to know if RWD is held back by traction/stability control, and if it forces you into stiff/uncomfortable suspenion/steering/throttle settings. I want to know how

I just wanted to point out that this era of rules-free Pike’s Peak is whistling past the grave. It’s only a matter of time before someone brings something far too ridiculous to the mountain and we start seeing restrictions in the name of safety.

Warms my heart to see so many Jalops, myself included, having gone through this exact story, including the looking-under-one-in-a-parking-lot portion!

Before they repaved it, I used to use I-684 South from I-84 as a ride comfort test road. I would drive the speed limit while resting my head on the headrest and see how many times my head got bounced off of it. Perhaps not the most scientific method, but the difference with comfortable cars was obvious.

The current Miata has 155 horsepower and weighs around the 2,400-pound mark...

What makes a good driver isn’t how you drive when everything goes right; it’s how you drive when everything goes wrong.

Not exactly. The Focus does have a PTO disconnect at the transfer case attached to the transmission. It’s either engaged or not, no in between. When it is disengaged, the driveshaft and rear pinion are stopped (introducing 300ms of inertia lag when engaging).

100% definitely a two-step (launch control anti-lag).

In my 2016 Mazda Miata my daughter used:

I know everyone’s jumping down your throat already, but I just wanted to check in on this paragraph:

Stop putting heavy shit on the roof.

“How to Finally Enter a Mazda Miata in a WRC Event, but Also Guarantee that it Will Fail Due to Engine Problems”

Chapter 1: Re-design the car with a tiny high-strung Italian turbo engine.

And Le Mans is better than F1.

This dash is so beautiful I could cry. I love Mazda for keeping it real.

Is that an “Engine START” button I see to go along with the “regular-ass car key”? Sigh. Yay for unecessary additional steps.

The system will receive updates at the dealer instead of over the air

This is easy. We’ve been using our Ford Raptor as a tow vehicle since 2010. We learned the hard way long ago that as soon as the fuel range display shows “50 miles remaining”, it really means 25 miles. (This applies whether it is towing at the time or not).
