I should probably feel bad saying this, but the world is slightly better off without this terribly selfish, self-centered dude in it. The island was protected FOR A REASON! Going there puts them all in danger, how dare you! And all because you want to shove your religion down someone’s throat that asked to be left alon

Ashes to ashes, right? It's even in the bible!

The answer to the problem of recovering his body is simply that they don’t get to do that. Any effort to recover this man’s body will further disturb these people and put them at risk. This man broke the law, and selfishly and stupidly attempted to force his religion on people who do not want it. Sometimes committing

I don’t feel bad for his family. They’re probably the ones that brainwashed him and made him think this was ok in the first place. This is the logical conclusion.

I’m curious. What did you do in response to him? I’m assuming by your presence on a site like Jezebel, that you would consider yourself a feminist or an ally or some such. Did you tell him you disagreed and found his views abhorrent? Or did you just stay silent? I hope you said something. My experience with male

this ^^^^^ i had a boyfriend who never hit me and i dont think he would have but he would often punch walls and throw/break things when he was upset with me and i was in the room and it is emotional abuse and it is scary as fuck.

Listen, I don’t know you and I don’t know when you are punching walls, but I want you to know this: even if YOU “know” you’d never hit a woman, if you are punching walls when you get angry and your partner is in the room, you are being fucking abusive and scary.  My ex used to punch walls when he got angry with me and

I feel like this says more about the way society tells people to think about domestic violence as somehow less serious, or something understandable.

Are you a business owner? Can you show me on your tax return the line where it shows how much higher you pay in taxes because a tiny fraction of people get tattoos on their faces?

The Kim Zolciak one reminds me of the conspiracy theories that float around some of the more awful gossip sites—that some famous people groom their children for powerful molesters. Sort of an awful thing to put out there, but it is also pretty bad to photoshop your young child’s butt to make it larger/rounder. How is

lol yeah the issue with our government is Muslim women. Good fucking take.

Being “forced” to do something and believing that it’s what you should wear are two different things.

I never said forced, did I?

do we really want to encourage members of Congress to express their faith while they’re working?

Read the other comments I’ve made on this thread you’ll see that I’ve said that it discriminates against many religious minorities, including Jews.

Things can be bigoted without purposefully being designed that way.

The problem isn’t that minority groups are more religious, the problem is that a ban on religious garb would most especially, if not exclusively, impact members of religious minority groups.

How? Because most “mainstream” Christianity doesn’t require men to wear religious garb. So you’re left with Jewish Men, Muslim Women, and Sikhs being forced to chose between serving in Congress and going against their religious teaching while Christians are not similarly discriminated against.

A total ban on all religious anything would disproportionately impact minority groups.

There’s no ban on religious iconography. It’s very specific and bigoted ban that is impacting Muslim women specifically.
