Agreed. Driving is more of a natural talent than it is an acquired skill, IMO. When I began driving and even riding, the only challenge was getting used to the machine and how the controls would respond. After a few hours of driving, it’s second nature. I was driving box trucks with trailers since 17.

They want the data and the ability to charge for features / subcriptions.

What an absolutely perfect DD this would make

More trucks like this, we need them.

I would love a truck with something like this, or the Nissan Flex Cab concept that was posted recently. A truck that easily converts between cargo and passenger duty.

So I went to the linked NHTSA page, and there are some MAJOR caveats that aren’t mentioned:

1) This is only for accidents that were reported to the police. So if it wasn’t reported, it wasn’t counted.

2) This data is actually for 2020, not 2021. Which, some might remember, had some different driving patterns than

Weather extremes? Nordic countries get along quite well with tons of snow and smaller vehicles. Rain and heat don’t matter for trucks vs. cars.

We have space, long distances between towns, big roads, weather extremes, and big parking spaces in the vast majority of the U.S. that just don’t compute from an E.U. perspective

Better yet, some planes fly with more fuel than they took off with.

Or the Florida version:

I’m pretty sure this is a car that will be met with a solid dose of skepticism, but as someone who has been driving one of these for almost a year now as a daily: It’s a brilliant little car. It looks gorgeous (subjective, I know), it’s reasonably quick off the line, it rides really well, the interior is well put

Whenever he says “I have a friend who...” or “People are saying...” it really just means he’s about to pull something out of his ass.

I don’t think anyone with any measure of intelligence is recommending ditching a perfectly good car for an expensive EV to save money. That argument comes in a little bit when comparing new cars when you’re ready to get one. Gas where I live is about $4.30/gallon right now. If I fill up once a week, that’s about

I mean with gas prices right now most people would be saving about $200 a month right now or more.

This is actually one of the reasons that there was a higher accident rate in 2020 IMO - pandemic had a lot more people staying home, so less traffic, and people could actually get their cars up to and beyond the usual limit. So you’ve got people who have very little experience driving a car at speed suddenly no longer

I wouldn’t call CarPlay useless, its a pretty basic re-interpretation of the current iOS interface. Having it read and dictate text messages is great, phone works fine, music/nav are all there. Could they make it better looking and add functionality? Absolutely. but it is useless? no way

Not just that, I believe portrait is better for navigation for the simple reason that I care much less about the area to my left and right as I do for the road in front of me. Portrait shows me further ahead than landscape does.

If I was in the market for a BMW I would consider this a deal breaker and wouldn’t buy it until the update is applied. I haven’t seen an OEM infotainment system yet that is worth a shit, so without AA I am out.

I was going to comment this, but I’ve been greyed out.”

I routinely carry loads by volume that a Mark I Mini couldn’t handle, even if it could handle the raw weight. I also carry highly variable loads, from Costco/BJ’s runs to greenhouses and home improvement stores. Much of what I carry is simply too big. However...
