Actually, the Display Cup does not have all the typos of the actual Cup. First thing I did when seeing the Cup in Toronto was look for the “Ilanders” typo that appears on the real Cup. Alas, it was spelled correctly all four years. I could be wrong about this, but I think the real Cup is sometimes displayed at the

It’s a true sign of progress that an out of the closet Mets fan will receive more scorn and derision than an openly gay person on the streets of New York.

Bob Ley once called a home run a “Rush Limbaugh shot” because it was fair and right of the pole.

Sad thing is the Bronx Zoo is supposed to be one of the best zoos, too. Used to have a season pass, but now you couldn’t pay me to go there. Zoos suck.

I like to tell my Ranger fan friends that Henrik will go down as the greatest goalie to never win the Cup. And yes, I say this knowing my team is a joke.

Only problem with that example is the average Chief Wahoo-wearing bro wouldn’t find the other two offensive either.

I root for the Mets and I’d be comfortable setting about 10% of our fan base on fire.

Not surprised. I know a few people (some who would describe themselves as liberal) who have made anti-Asian jokes but wouldn’t dare make similar remarks about other ethnicities.

Rick Peterson would fix him in ten minutes.

Is there a reason why countries like Italy and Israel have put together teams of American-born players but other countries haven’t? I’d think countries like Ireland, England, Germany, Poland, etc. could also put together halfway decent teams by using the same loose qualifying rules.

I always thought it was strange that the Mets standard for number retirement would be higher than the Yankees. You would think it would be the Mets who’d be retiring the borderline guys while the Yanks would just retire the immortals.

Islander fan here as well. My money is on a new arena in Belmont although I really want an arena by Citi Field for both my own selfish reasons and because I think it’s best for the franchise. While I agree the area would probably be over saturated with yet another new arena, it’s the goal of every ownership to have

Actually, *puts on Rich Pilon jersey*, the Penguins won two games in OT during their streak. The 1981-82 Islanders, who had the previous record of 15, won all their games in regulation.

Our culture of idolizing charismatic assholes is one of the main reasons why we’re in the mess we’re in.

“Rooting for the Cubs to win the World Series isn’t—has never been—rooting for Charlie Brown to finally kick the football; it’s rooting for the Death Star to finally blow up the Rebel base. Congratulations! The Rebellion is in ashes now. You did it!”

I’ve been sorta rooting for Cleveland only cause I’ve always disliked the Cubs, but everytime I see that stupid Chief Wahoo logo I can’t help but think they deserve to have the longest title drought. Blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cubs would be a symbolic passing of the torch of ineptitude.

We need to swap locations. I’m a hockey fan in NY and hockey is a blip on the sports radio talk scene (and my team, the Islanders, are a blip of a blip). I pretty much turn off sports radio until pitchers and catchers report because I have no interest in hearing football talk 24/7 until then.

I’ll consider it a win if a Ranger does get hurt.

And you can't hear them scream.

As a Mets fan that absolutely loved Jose Reyes and hoped he would one day come back, I have extremely mixed emotions to say the least. I do believe in giving second chances (assuming the abuse was a one time incident and Jose truly is contrite and seeking help which seems to be the case) but it did rub me the wrong
