Maybe cause baseball fans actually want a baseball broadcaster to talk about baseball during a baseball game. He’s free to believe whatever he wants, but he shouldn’t interject politics into his work.

I actually like hearing the Potvin chant. What greater tribute is there to a player than chanting your name every single game years after your retirement? Besides I think they’re chanting “Potvin’s Cups.”.

Good pick. Beating the Oilers again would have solidified the Isles as the greatest dynasty ever. As it stands they’re obviously still in the conversation, but usually get passed over in favor of the Oilers or Habs. Another good pick would be Nucks in 94. Id give my first born to chant “1940" again.

Thank you fellow Mets fan. It drove me fucking crazy how the media basically implored sports fans around the nation to come together and root for the Yanks. I lived in NY, once worked near the Towers and sadly knew someone that perished in them, and there was still no way in hell I contemplated rooting for the Yanks.

Seriously, the “but jobs!” argument always seems to be thrown out to justify shitty things. The tobacco industry employs a lot of people but I'm not going to start lighting up just to support them.

Perhaps my memory is really faulty, but I could have sworn I saw a Yankee game as a kid in which Phil Rizzuto referred to the hanging k’s as the “KKK corner.” I do not recall if Bill White was his partner when he made the gaffe.

Being an Isles and Mets fan, I finally feel like I've escaped sports hell.

Thanks for womansplaining that to me.

Can we stop with the “Bernie Bros” bullshit already? Every Bernie Bros I know is a feminist. Every Bernie Bros I know wants Elizabeth Warren to be his running mate. Every Bernie Bros I know has never mentioned gender as a reason to vote for Bernie (ironically, in direct contrast with most every Hillary supporter I

Thanks for the insight. Even though I’m not much of a soccer/football fan, I do find the way the leagues are run (eg, promotion/relegation, transfer fees, etc.) pretty fascinating since they are so different to American sports. In regards to your last question, players in US sports have no say when they are traded to
