No country in the world is so isolated as to not know that blackface is completely offensive - whether you have an understanding of American History or not.

@Sorcha: I was just being a smart-ass w/ the crack about Emma Thompson.
@ritualtheory: Not as much as Polanski, of course, but still...
@ritualtheory: Fart. I thought as much.
Tilda Swinton signs a petition to prevent Donald Trump from building a golf course in Scotland - good. She also signs a petition supporting the release of Roman Polanski - fail.
@pantalaimon: Yay! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! I'm off to a cottage in n. Ontario tomorrow - will spend the evening prepping for a ridiculous feast on Sunday afternoon. I have many contributions to make, but my favorite by far - the one that brings silence to the table - is my recipe for roasted garlic mashed…
@Benevolent_Dictatrix (patently absurd): Agreed. I have felt so cynical about humanity since the Polanski thing blew apart that I want to gather up my niece and god-daughters and take them to live w/ me and the bears in northern Canada.
@KATE!: I actually shouted "Eat it, fuckface!" when I read the headline, spraying toast w/ almond butter all over my computer. Yipes. Talk about internalizing - I'm right there w/ you, sister.
@Beets.Go.On is the Fat Yogini: Speed of light prayers, sister.
@EmpressZombie: I don't think Natasha Lyonne is stupid. In fact, I'm quite certain that she's not, as she answers the questions put to her w/ depth of thought. But the "likes" and "you knows" are not just a function of nerves, I don't think. These are long-held habits.
@Ms Meghan: Hmm... It was a carpet interview, but an awfully long one. And b/c it was for NYMag I would imagine that it wasn't a traditional "mic in face"- type thing - though I could be wrong.
@you've got red on you: Interviewees are briefed on what they are going to be asked - they're not going in blind. Furthermore, she "likes" and "you know"(s) her way through the entire interview, not just this section.
'But at this point, I think it's time for me to, you know, embrace being 30 and not really care so much.'
@Meiran: With all due respect, I am also in the industry and have ZERO problem going off about Mr. Polanski when anyone asks for my opinion on the matter. He is a piece of shit. And if shouting him down in the town square in front of a bunch of industry folk meant that I didn't get a gig and had to live a different…
She says in the first clip that she's not herself when she comes on his show. I'm no Madonna apologist, b/c she can be a right beyotch, but her body language reads as someone who is in fight/flight mode. Needs to be there b/c she's promoting her album, but is gently pooping her pants at the same time.
Okay - let me get this straight...
@loves_hamsters: Hearted.
My berry is tingling.
I think what's most shocking about the Summer of Death is that I am going to die.
@Beets.Go.On is the Fat Yogini: I'm one other person in the Western Hemisphere who hasn't seen DD - but Patrick Swayze was one stand-up dude and it's a loss.
