No it’s not. Streamers even those who can afford questionable practices (which are in the minority, even among those notorious enough to be targeted by those practices) are not equivalent to multi-billion dollar companies trying to save a few thousands in marketing.

Far as I can tell, we don’t know which she is, which leads to the musical question, “Are you a Sociopath Who’s Gotten Really Good at Tearing Up on Cue, Ellen — or are you just so entitled it never occurred to you to find out?”

Have to laugh a bit at the thought that HR can magically quell this sort of thing. Might just be my experience, but I think The Office’s jokes about Toby nailed the reality of most experiences with HR. It’s highly unlikely you’re going to get an outcome you were hoping for if you go to them.

There’s a theory that all publicity is good publicity, but I don’t think Burger King really sticks out enough that just reminding me they exist would make me any more likely to buy from them.

The reason they get away with it is because people are so desperate to be in show biz that they’ll accept no benefits, shit pay, and being treated like human garbage. If they started having issues hiring people capable of doing the work they need, they’d change the benefits and pay immediately.

The silly thing about all of this Ellen hoopla is that it’s focused on Ellen. I have no affinity for Ellen, I have never watched her show (shows?), but I have worked below the line on plenty of bullshit and I got to say they treat you like shit in Hollywood, because they can. You know what working for Ellen is

although no BK ads

But you get exposure! In that some pervert will expose himself to you.

imagine getting hired to work on the biggest network talkshow going and not getting as much vacation as a dude stocking shelves at the grocery store

It sounds like a bit of Column A, a bit of Column B.

Corporations doing everything they can to exploit workers and save a buck. Hilarious!

Ah yes, tell me more about invasive advertising ... (this page crashed 3 times on mobile trying to scroll down to and load the comments - although no BK ads, so SCORE!)

Apparently she’s cold and detached, and doesn’t want to know anything about her employees. Or didn’t til now.

Honest question (I’ve not followed this story closely): is Ellen really a terrible tyrant, of just a chief executive who doesn’t know or care how her employees live (like 80% of all chief executives)?

Companies not getting paid time off for doctor appointments is extremely normal. The actual egregious part here is that they only give five days of PTO, but most companies will give you general PTO days that you then have to take for doctor appointments, or just tell you to go and not put it in.

Yeah I was thinking, “This is not at all unusual.” And getting your birthday off is an old union thing.

In other words its like 8O% of all jobs in the US.

Thank you. Feel like I’m taking crazy pills that so many people are ok with that format. Nothing better than watching your favorite streamer experience a crucial moment in a game, only for the to turn away from the screen instantly to thank D0gEstylez69 for the $5 donation.

I hope it goes both ways tbh. The very worst part of any stream (imo) is the reading of donation comments. Interacting with viewers is fine but goddamn is it annoying when they try to do or say *anything* and are interrupted every 4 seconds so a donation can be read.

I’m actually kind of surprised it took this long for an ad agency to try something like this. The pieces have been there for quite a while.
