His point as well, although I would disagree with the idea that manned aircraft are necessarily more aware. A human being only has one pair of eyes (two in a two-seater), a machine can have many. And an unmanned aircraft can free up tons of things a pilot used to do through automation.
Saw this on Twitter, LOVED IT.
It’s a huge target, and the attendees are mostly american citizens.
Are you suggesting they should have no security?
Are you suggesting they should only hire private security, that lacks all the special government tech like fighter jets and nuclear bomb detectors?
Are you really that fucking stupid?
I’m sorry that a big…
Hindsight, because:
We already operate things that look like airliners though...
The 747-8i makes a perfect, massive platform. Honestly, it’s almost a no-brainer to use it. They are developing IFR for the two they are making for the replacements for air force one,so that part’s already done. They’re doing a massive communications suite for that as well, so a lot of that will already have a lot of…
You say that as if it were a bad thing...
Is America really war weary? We lose more people every year from drunk drivers than we lost in the whole of OIF/OEF combined over 10 years. Americans sacrificed absolutely nothing while an All Volunteer Force that is something less than 1 percent of the population did all the deploying and fighting. The only people…
Refusing to engage them because “that’s what they want” is not exactly a sound strategy.
Stalin shot most of the officers in his own army. Read a bit of history.
There are SO MANY languages that have (de facto) died during the last century in Russia that it’s absolutely tragic. Ethnic cleansing is what Russians do. Russia, and the lands they’ve invaded have contained numerous different cultures, and they’v been wiped out systematically.
Exactly, Norway, Canada and other non-NATO partners. And together they have the possibility to train immense amounts of personnel very rapidly, as many of them have conscription armies together with large training capabilities.
Count up all of those combined, and it’s still less than the amount of Russian civilians purged under Stalin. This is not a game you want to play.
These guys aren’t even worth engaging. They’re either naive or in denial about the fragility of the current Russian economy.
You are right, but there is a weakness in some of the training, equipment and tactics in these northern regions: the scenarios they train for. Local short-range defence etc. might not be very effective against whatever Russia has in mind if they do go nuts at some point.
Your grasp of economics is pretty awful. The U.S. might have the most sovereign debt but its debt to GDP ratio is less than many advanced economies. Russia’s ratio is right in line with Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, hardly economic stars... Also the U.S. has 4.4% of the world population but holds $86 trillion in net…
Cavalry forces were basically abandoned after WWI, and the military lost all interest in horses (other than ceremonial purposes). Fighting alongside the Northern Alliance in the most remote regions of Afghanistan, they quickly figured out that motorized vehicles were useless, and horses work better than boots.
The first Green Berets in Afghanistan after 9/11 rode horseback with the Northern Alliance. After recognizing the utility of horses and mules in the backcountry, they decided to make it part of Special Forces training.
