BA issues I had were when my unit was pulled from the ‘Stan, and was being redeployed for OIF. The stuff we were using in the ‘Stan wasn’t all that great, and going against a nation-state military (even a shitty one like Iraq’s), we wanted some better plates. Guys being sent over from stateside had new(er) plates, but…

It’s not that the earlier Gens were bad, or even unreliable. They were solidly made, and worked like a champ. The whole mag-well design with the 416 (and even other platforms built to NATO specs) was a pain in the ass, but wasn’t really a big deal. With some simple modifications, it worked fine.

No REMF dared to attempt confiscating my unit’s PMAGS. That wouldn’t have ended well for them, and they knew it. That doesn’t mean we didn’t get the snark every now and then, but oh well.

PMAGS are fantastic. The only issue I had with them— years ago when the H&K 416s started coming out, the traditional PMAGS acquired for the standard M4 platform, wouldn’t lock into H&K’s new mag-well design. But, I spent some time with a file, and sand paper, and eventually modified all my PMAGS to work in the 416.
