It’s weird, but Many Waters is the one book in the series that stuck with me the most in the years following. Maybe because it’s the least ... metaphysical. It’s easier to follow and overall more grounded than the others. I really enjoyed it.

I’m not a car buff but I sometimes wander through these find-me-a-car posts because they’re educational. I had no idea you could easily add heated seats to a car. Tell me more O_O (or I’ll go google it, that’s fine)

Yeah. I have a need to do some serious stuff purging in several different rooms, which would make light maintenance easier. But there’s just so many video games I could play instead.

Heeyyyyy guess what I cleaned while I cooked dinner tonight. It’s not impossible! My kitchen isn’t disgusting!

Yeah, that sounds right. And then you roll it into balls and roll them in powdered sugar, or that’s how we did em. The lemon works really well, I recommend.

At some point I discovered my mom’s magical soft lemon cookies were just a box of lemon cake mix, prepped slightly differently. I assume the recipe is much the same as yours. Are they rolled in powdered sugar so they look all crackly and pretty?

Oh, god. I’m supposed to do that?! Shit.

I seriously need to get into this habit. I make a mess when I cook, and then leave it for Future Me. And then I get fed up and have to deep clean the whole dang kitchen instead of wiping counters as I go. I’m a bad adult.

Dang, this sounds nice. I’m a fat nerd too. I have my college bike in the garage, slowly rusting away on flat tires. Maybe I’ll take advantage of the approaching Spring and have a ride around the neighborhood.

The last time I was at the gym, I was quite embarrassed to have to ask a man who was walking by to help me remove the plates from the squat bar. It was left at just above my shoulder level, with 45s, and I wasn’t confident I could get them down without hurting myself. Put ‘em away, folks!!

Agreed. I haven’t tried these or anything, but I like to be able to drop a bud and let it dangle. “True wireless” solves a problem I’ve never really had, and creates new ones. But that’s just me.

Man, the spam around here’s getting exciting. Instead of “I get $$$ working from home!” it’s “HERE, HACK AN ATM”

Only if I want to get up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday. I don’t. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve always assumed that’s what it is. Cheap grocery store eggs come from chickens living a very particular kind of life. And I do buy them, because that’s what available near me. But when I find a friend with chickens, I buy those eggs, because chickens that get table scraps and forage for bugs always have richer egg

Yep. Our egg washing is why we have to put eggs in the fridge — it removes the protective cuticle that helps keeps them fresh. It’s fine to leave UK eggs (and, for that matter, home grown eggs here that aren’t washed) on the counter, they’ll be fine for ages.

I usually find that white eggs break more cleanly but are more likely to shed shell bits. The brown eggs hold together more and are harder to crack, but I find because they seem to have more membrane, they don’t leave bits in the egg as much.

They probably have multiple breeds of hen. A friend of my folks has bantam hens, and they lay small, colorful eggs. It’s always charming to get a little Easter basket of eggs from them :)

Yeah, I’ve definitely noticed when I manage to find local eggs that the yolks are darker and the eggs taste richer. I just assumed it was due to the hens getting a better diet. I definitely prefer them, but it’s a small difference.

For some reason, I was getting all caught up on the idea of having to cook way too much for my 2 person household. As though I’d have to cook a whole bag of beans at once. Lol, I’m an idiot. If I pick up an Instant Pot, I’ll have to give some dried chickpeas a whirl. Thanks!

I eat a lot of beans, but I always eat canned. Is there really that big of a difference?
