Fun fact: I tried after seeing your reply (“bo” and “bo gamestop”)

There are about 4 Gamestops with in a short distance from me. All smell of BO. The independent game stores don’t seem have that problem. It’s mostly due to the employees rather than customers. The independent ones are all owned by some of the employees so they have skin in the game to maintain their image. The one

Essential? Looking at their revenue they're barely "relevant"

Baltimore and Ohio

No they are asking them to show law enorcement a piece of paper that has the corperate phone number. And if I was law enforcement I would shut them down anyway. Let it go to court. The city lawyers can pack the jury with Moms.

Corporate doesn’t care. They aren’t invested in the company. They are just in it for one last gasp revenue boost to pass out bonuses, declare bankruptcy and move on to ruining another company. edit, reply fail

True, but this guidance is clearly for stores in places that are.

But some states are - and Gamestop is defying those authorities.

Of course. Some are though, especially those that have officers coming around to ask stores to shut down.

No such thing. “BO” Stands for “Body Odor,” that sweaty funk that comes from unlucky genetics, poor hygiene, or both.

No shit. But when fucking Bath & Body Works closes all their stores across the country AND pays their employees, the least GS could do is comply with the states that ARE on lock down. If you’re in NYC and need to get a physical copy of Animal Crossing and are risking some employees health, then fuck you, you deserve

1. I’m sure they do, MOST people need to work, that’s not an excuse to be treated like cattle. I’m no lawyer, but this seems like it’s bordering on criminal negligence and if just one employee becomes infected because they were forced to work under less than safe conditions, they could potentially face a lawsuit that

good news, gamestop has those too! and you can even buy download insurance that will let you download it more than once (within the next 18 months)!

“Buh-buh-but how will I stumble over mountains of abandoned Funko Pops while trying to find a game to overpay for, and then have the most meaningful conversation of my day when what should be a 30sec transaction becomes a 4min transaction from an employee who clearly doesn’t want to be there?”

I love me some vidja gaems as much as the next person, but “essential retail”? Hahahaha no. Hope they go over the coals for this.

Glad I’m sticking with digital PC downloads!

Gamestop is so essential that it was going out of business before the pandemic.

I don’t want it to be since E3 has always been a part of my life since I can remember. I only ever got to attend E3 2011 and I had the time of my life since it was a dream come true experience.

I think we do, but they need to actually have a convention where the major publishers strive against each other to produce the most wow content.

This thought crossed my mind as well.  Do we *really* need an E3 in this day and age?  Rather than the time spent prepping for the show, maybe devs and pubs could just release playable demos instead.  Or really nice gameplay vids like that 45-minute Cyberpunk 2077 teaser last year.
