Often when you mash up a couple of companies like this you mash up their names too, to remind customers of the parentage. Except in this case the results would still be Exxon or Chevron.

The main problem is that they stopped allowing customers to buy to stock only, but allowed them to sell. This is an obvious way to drive prices lower in a market that is dependent on quantity of bid/ask orders to set the prices.

I think there’s wide gulf between “may not work as quickly as you like” (which is what these terms sound like) and “we may arbitrarily prevent you from using our services with specific products at our discretion” (which is the action RH is actually taking).

Irrelevant. By allowing sell orders but not buy orders, Robinhood is blatantly manipulating the market.

The Stock Exchange can stop ALL trading of a stock. That’s not what Robinhood did. They stopped all purchases of a stock. All they let you do was sell. Well, when you can only sell a stock and can’t buy any as the value drops, it’s going to crater.
