Yeah that’s probably a big piece of why - “sins of the husband”. As to why the military is so anti-Clinton, I think it’s because cuts to the military (which were necessary after Reagan’s star wars - even though H.W. Bush started the trend) and also because generally speaking the military demographic includes a lot of

That’s an interesting perspective, but I think it overestimates the strength of the two party system. I think there are legitimately a lot of voters who are undecided because they lean this way or that way depending on the issue. Our two party system is not conducive for a lot of voters.

No, that’s a fair point. Hillary was very much involved in a lot of the policy stuff that went down in the 90s, so it’s probably fair to say that the animosity could certainly have stemmed elsewhere.

Yup. That’s why I posed the question.

Yup. He was able to get a pretty great turnout.

You know my husband was reading a couple of pieces that were talking about the Evangelical situation. The article was talking about how Evangelicals feel like Trump is a fighter...and that appeals to them. I thought it was interesting.

Ha ha ha.

OK, that’s fair. I see your point.

Yup!!! :D

This is basically my experience with my Boomers. :D

Yup, I agree with you. It’s best to focus on the demographic assets. I was just curious about what the effect of losing the male Boomers would be. Yes non-Boomers have the numbers, but do they come vote?

So, I think you bring up some great points. I’m simply asking the question of whether or not the demographic is worth pursuing or not. They are outnumbered, but of course it always depends on who actually goes to the polls. For example, we had a huge turnout of non-white-guys in 2008 and then in 2010...crickets.

Sorry, I’ll try to clarify. Sometimes I get ahead of myself. :D

Sorry, let me clarify. I was talking about the Clinton campaign’s decision to do the speech that focuses on Hillary playing the woman card, in response to Trump’s comments about how Hillary only is where she is because she’s a woman and that she’s ‘playing the woman card’. Then the campaign raised 2.5 million dollars

Right but he’s not going to vote for Trump, so he’ll go and vote for Hillary - possibly. If there are a lot of other Boomer democrats on the edge than it could be advantageous. I’m not sure.

As I said before, I don’t know if the gender play will be successful or not. Millenials and women make up a huge portion of the voting block. I don’t know if she should change her strategy for Boomer men. I don’t know if it’s worth it.

I don’t know about that. This is strictly speaking about one experience, but my father-in-law is a registered Democrat. He can’t stand Hillary. But he sure as shit won’t vote for Trump. I wonder how many other white Boomer men are in that position.

Maybe. I think that a lot of animosity toward Hillary is because she’s a woman. But I think there are a lot of Boomer men who would vote for a woman running for President on the Republican ticket.

I do think that Hillary has a problem with men, specifically Boomer men. I think there are some merits to Ms. Allen’s arguments. Not necessarily all of them, but some. Trump has done exceedingly well for himself by playing into our country’s race divide. I don’t know if a gender play would be as successful (I believe

So the experiences vary wildly. I read Spock’s post...and I can’t relate.
