I don't think the market for theater-obsessed geeks is THAT high, but I think a well-developed drama about the creation of a broadway show, with characters that are believable in their surroundings, could have really drawn people in, even if they weren't naturally inclined to be "into" broadway musicals.

I have a broadway/theater fetish, I wanted this show to be good SOOO badly.

But her objection didn't seem to be as much the stereotyping of scientists, but "princess culture".  In the blog post, she basically mentioned NOTHING about women in science, but focused instead on how she considers girls dressing up as Disney princesses to be degrading and possibly harmful.  I'm a

Mayim Bialik wrote a pseudo-tirade on her blog after the episode aired on how much she hates "Princess Culture" and I had a similar reaction to you. I have a 3YO who hasn't even SEEN most of the disney movies, but wanted to dress up as Belle for Purim (for those who don't know, that's the closest thign we have to

Yes, you nailed it. I wrote in another comment essentially the same thing. Even though Lorelai is clearly the heroine of the story, it is clear that both parties are flawed & stubborn, and I love the "realness" in that the show doesn't dance around that.

I partially started watching Parenthood BECAUSE I liked Lauren Graham so much, but her character is EASILY the least interesting one there. The show, however, is fantastic, one of my absolute favorites on TV right now.  I blame the writing, not Graham, but still.

Yes! It makes it all the more disappointing that Melissa McCarthy can only seem to find roles that make her size the butt of nearly all the jokes.  I'm sure it's hard for her to be taken seriously by producers who would never pick a heavier girl over a more "marketable" model-sized one (even if the role has nothing to

Completely agree. What I love the most about the scenes with Lorelai and her parents (mainly Emily) is that all the core characters in conflict are inherently flawed, and the show doesn't try to pretend otherwise. (Rory aside, since she's depicted as the angel child for so long). Even though Lorelai is the heroine of

I kinda agree with @avclub-4e9fdd52065858cd9cbb782fcfc523eb:disqus because I think part of the problem with Rory in the later seasons wasn't necessarily the acting, but the way the character was written. She seemed more down-to-earth and humble in the first few seasons, and by season 5 it was like she kinda bought

But… what happened to Andrae?

I doubt it'll be a 7 person jury. I'm going for a majority decision, with 2 votes based purely on bitterness :-)

Ooops! Hmmm… assuming a 9-person Jury, with a final 3, I'll say:  7 votes.

If you're referring to breaking up the Cool Kids table, I think they were able to play BOTH games because they kept the stronger physical player for pre-merge, and broke up the potentially dangerous post-merge alliance.

I thought it was a misfire at first too, but the way it played out, I think it solidified the Cool Kids alliance as sneaky, and it completely threw Reynold off his game. He'll be in scramble mode unless a tribe switch happens soon.

What annoys me about the GOOD vs. EVIL crap is that he totally absolves himself of any responsibility for his own actions/mistakes, since everything is ordained by God.  I know Probst seems to think he is hilarious to watch, but he's a ticking time bomb to me, and I think he needs serious help.

Not to mention that it was Mikayla's (sp?) fault for single-handedly making him lust for her. This is someone who can't take responsibility for his own [lack of] self-control, yet considers himself a pius, god-fearing man.  It really creeps me out to think about what must go on in his house. Seriously.

Yay! All my friends play fantasty football/baseball/etc, and I'm not a big sports person, so I think this will be fun :)

Yes, this.

Yeah, they're self-admittedly a bit burned out from this show, but if they got a chance to give their opinions and have it [possibly] matter, it'd still be hilarious, awesome, and informative ;)
