What we call pudding is absolutely NOT a creme caramel. We would call a creme caramel a flan. Pudding in the US is typically chocolate or butterscotch, and has a different texture altogether. In many cases we top it with whipped cream. I’ve had a few great versions but mostly pudding makes me think of cafeteria food.

My first thought was AA. Maybe something has made him search for sobriety and he is very much not liking what he sees in the mirror. I realize that is a generous take, and alcoholism is not excuse for such bad behavior, but the fact that the two admissions are linked makes me wonder.
