Since I’m not a cynic, I never once thought while playing tomb raider that they were to hide loading. They were very tastefully and logically done. Youre in a dense jungle and caves, after all. Admittedly I never played the new final fantasy so I can’t comment on how nontasteful it’s done there.

Exactly. I think it adds immersion. The alternative is to teleport the character from one side of the hole to the other, which I would think is disruptive to the experience 

So if a character has to go inside a small hole to get to the other side, how would they go about showing that?
