That's a really good analysis. Another thing is that Josh is not at all intellectual. I don't know if he and Rebecca have enough in common for a lasting relationship. She seems to idealize him, and like you said, he likes that reflection of himself that she gives him.

Ever since I moved to the west coast watching award shows in general isn't much fun. Especially the Tonys because a lot of the important awards aren't presented onscreen, anyway.

Yup, Hudgens was in Gigi. But I'd argue that her fame helped her get the role.

I'd like it if they did non-mainstream musicals. Stuff that most people haven't already been exposed to.

That was absolutely perfect.

I don't think Middle America is the part of the country that's really keeping musicals alive.

Actually, Bollywood's notoriously racist in that the industry vastly prefers light-skinned actors.

What about Keith Burns playing Thuy? That was pretty hard to defend.

If you want a more recent example, some people were pretty upset over Josefina Scaglione being cast as Maria in the West Side Story revival (she's Argentine but looked too European for them).

I actually prefer an Asian or Filipino actor to play the Engineer because to me it makes more sense that he'd be able to "pass" as Vietnamese.

Galavant needs your ratings more. No matter how badly these NBC musicals do, they always seem to keep getting made, so no worries there.

I hatewatch Scorpion and that seems like a very realistic story arc to me. Although you'd have to throw in one or more of the characters almost dying somehow.

Why the heck would they air Grease: Live! during the Galavant finale? Talk about overlapping audiences (and as a member of said audience, I will certainly choose to watch Galavant instead).

I'm excited that this has a guinea pig… even if it doesn't look very cute. Also, the plot seems a lot like Toy Story.

That's a good point. I guess I never thought about it. One of my favorite things about Team America is the ridiculous dialogue (especially Lisa's), so it makes sense.

I LOVE Team America, but I don't really think of it as a parody. Also, I disagree with the article's assessment of the first Hot Shots. I absolutely love that movie.

It's a TV show, but Galavant is sort of a fantasy parody.

Thank you! I prefer the first one to the second one.

I LOVE how "Only a Woman" is a spoof of "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" from Armageddon. You only notice it when you are listening to it on the soundtrack and aren't distracted by the puppet sex.

Come on, everybody, we've got quiltin' to do!
