Personally I’ve never understood this obsession with credits in TV/movies/games. For example, no one clamors for a list of credits on the side of their cereal box. But how will anyone get credit you say? You write down what you’ve done in your resume and give reference like every other industry on the planet.

Have they heard themselves in anime???

I think that generally true of all movies anywhere. It’s easy to pick out discrepancies if you are familiar with a specific region.

I generally enjoy the F&F franchise, but I was a little bothered by the Fiero in space stuff in F9.

Read some of the other comments about their orchard experiences. I guarantee you that if you are letting the public wander an orchard 6 apples “lost” is trivial. You are going to have people eating them on the spot, dropping them on the ground and leaving them, kids shaking them off the branches, etc… all over the

Yeah, that is blatant. That would ruin the immersion for me as well.

And Apple attaches their software to their hardware and sell that. But I don’t think they should then be entitled to leech off the works of basically anything that happens on their OS any more than any other OS dev. But then again I have a lot of issues with how software, IPs, and copyrights work. It’s all an

Were they that blatant? I never played the game. Because I generally find real world products to help the world feel more realistic as long as it doesn’t feel like it is shoved in my face. I put Energizer batteries in a garage door remote just this morning!  Anyway, fake products always remind me I’m playing a game.

Maybe. But I don’t, for example, see MS trying to charge a commission for everything on Windows. It’s just not something you see done on an OS. If it’s done it’s pretty much always how they had it set up before by controlling the payment system.  Trying to take a cut of everything outside that seems nefarious and

Depends. If they do like Epic did and offer what they are selling cheaper than using IAP then I’d wager a fair number will take the cheaper route.

That doesn’t refute anything I said. The OP is saying Apple would still take a cut of third party payments which simply isn’t true.

Where do you get that Apple would still be entitled to 30% of the revenue from an third party processor? Their stock took a hit today precisely because they might see reduced revenue due to having to allow third party payments.

I’ve heard pre-orders are strong, but look up past sales yourself. A quick Google shows me that the entire Metroid series (15 games) has sold a total of a little over 18 millions copies. And since you bring it up I’ll use Pokémon as a comparison. Pokémon Sword & Shield on the Switch has sold around 22 million

I guess it depends on your perspective. Personally I love the side scrolling Metroid games, but compared to other flag ship titles the series as a whole has pretty weak sales. So the reality is the series hasn’t been a show stopper. It’s big for its fans, but has relatively little impact in general.

I do think seeing the odds might be helpful for some people, but yes I agree it’s far from the only thing that needs to be done.  The point though is it is progress.  And it’s progress without taking a sledgehammer to everything as China has done.

No, it’s the same thing. These companies lost a bunch of value because of the crackdown on gaming among minors. Also, the west has been doing some things to deal with this. It varies by country but some countries now require things like the odds to be revealed for loot boxes or to allow the consumer to see what’s

The problem is this doesn’t even really target predatory features which would be a much more sensible approach. It’s targeting all gaming for anyone under 18.

Yes, this is as much of a crack down on consumers as it is big tech.  Consumers get hit with the time limitation while tech is saddled with trying to enforce it.

.But if part of this action is taking a sledgehammer to game design that is purposefully targeting the same addictions that gambling does to extract wealth from addicts (especially targeting kids), then I say swing away.

I agree there are examples where more regulation should have or could be used, but not to this level.  This is opposite extreme and no better for it.
