They may have just asked them. They have several Rift Apart video including ones that is a 45 minute interview with Insomniac’s Core Technology Director. DF is very good at what they do. If they are speculating on something they’ll say so.

You probably could port R&C over. The near instantaneous loads would turn into discernible loads on slower drives, but it would work. It just wouldn’t be the same seamless experience.
What I’m saying though is R&C isn’t running two at the same time (at least not in this specific instance). It’s literally dumping one level and loading another in a fraction of a second. The advantage being you have all your system resources (e.g. RAM) available for each level.
Agree on the modern side scroller over MP4… disagree on Fusion.
For some reason I can’t see your last reply to me. So I’m replying here.
They absolutely sell systems. It’s been the biggest knock against XBox for a couple of gens now and one of the main reasons they lag behind in sales. Then, of course, there is Nintendo. People wouldn’t put up with their awkward online set-up and low powered systems if it weren’t for their undoubtedly high quality…
You should watch Digital Foundry’s tech review on the new Ratchet & Clank. Specifically, there is one level where there are two completely different versions in two dimensions and you can warp back and forth by smacking some crystals. According to DF the entire world is being dumped (except for your character) and…
I was thinking the same thing. Games with various “horde” modes are very similar in concept. This would include the fairly popular zombie mode in CoD. There does seem to be sudden surge in this type of game, but it hasn’t exactly been absent since L4D2.
Yeah, fair enough. You’re probably looking at PC or a temp sub to Game Pass and streaming onto whatever devices have the app by that time.
Same. I want a new TES so bad, but there is just no way these games launch in back to back years. TES6 is a minimum of 2 years beyond Starfield. Probably more. And that’s depressing.
It does kind of look like flaking. I could completely see that because it really doesn’t match Iliac bay very well at all.
You are just being naive. Basic necessities or luxuries like a computer that allows you to browse Kotaku and type replies don’t just appear out of thin air. Someone has to work for them. And, believe it or not, you might call that work a “job”.
I mean you would likely need a job no matter what. Otherwise no one has anything.
Given the screenshot it seems like worrying about the character art is much ado about nothing.
As far as the business side goes I actually think it’s about growing Game Pass at this point which is why they are pushing to get the app onto more devices. Maybe they make less in the short term, but if they can pick up more subs with games like Starfield then they may well make more money long term with this…
Different viewpoints I guess. I don’t have issues with first party exclusives. It’s largely how consoles are judged. Really, it’s how a lot of businesses offering a product of some kind work. And, again, with GP and xCloud there will be a decent amount of options to play the game. More than pretty much any Sony…
Not sure I’d call it petty to keep what is now a first party title an exclusive. Also, it’s not like XBox will be the only option. The XBox is just one part of their approach. The game will be available on PC and likely xCloud which means it will be playable on an assortment of other devices. Which given they also…
Have you considered the possibility that these issues are one in the same? That if they can’t get the license to sell the games on new hardware the same publisher is also not willing to allow them to be BC?
I think “AAA” might be a little generous here. It struck me as a game trying to cash in on a new generation with some shiny graphics, but that also forgot to be a truly good game. The reviews didn’t anything to change this impression. I think it didn’t sell because it just isn’t a very good game. And certainly not…
Is he though? Because that wasn’t the question asked. He was specifically asked if they would make more games backwards compatible and he said there were different challenges including licensing. You seem to be discounting the possibility that licenses for some games only applies to a specific hardware generation.
