No, I understand what they are doing. I’m just not as sure as you seem to be that they want to basically do away with the XBox brand.

Microsoft could buy the rest of the available developers on planet earth and STILL not compete with Sony’s 1st party.

There’s approximately zero chance of Sony allowing Game Pass on their hardware.

And, yet, he did exactly what I said. Even if allowed free reign, as he had at 22Cans, the guy can’t help but over promise and under deliver.  He was his own worst enemy.

Well, we’re about to see a PS logo before MLB The Show 21 on XBox.  So doesn’t seem that crazy any more.

Nah, it was Molyneux.  He was constantly over promising and under delivering.  And that wasn’t due to MS.  He continued the same crap as head of 22Cans after leaving Lionhead.

Small games by small companies don’t get made because people like YOU refused to buy them.

I’m not sure why not.  This is content owned by different companies.  They  should have the right to use them as they want.

This is what I’m hoping happens.  DLSS is some great tech that gives some amazing results.  For a portable system this makes perfect sense.

Yeah, my PC save files are long gone.  Oh well, I don’t mind starting from scratch.

So the fuck what?  Am I supposed to feel sorry for people pulling in more than 80K?  GTFO.

Just watched a clip.  I don’t think that is for me.  I watch stuff like a guy making donuts or running a retro game store.

I don’t feel that I did that. The OP said 4K is a waste. You basically agreed saying that it is better to focus on 1080p with more bells and whistles. Then I pointed out that a system with the ability to do 4K gaming would also have the power to render at lower resolutions and give you those bells and whistles.

Yes, and they have probably been working on it since then too. Just like MS and Sony are certainly working on whatever mid-cycle refresh we will see 3 years down the road. What seems to have changed is the number of rumors recently. There was very little in terms of anything new for a several years and then

Counter counterpoint: The ability to run some games at 4k does give you the ability to do those things I mentioned - but not at 4k.]

TBF the leaks don’t seem to say anything about actual 4K rendering. And DLSS is pretty amazing tech. It gives results that are nearly indistinguishable from native 4K. It seems perfect for a presumably portable platform like the next gen Switch.

People arguing with you like “my tv is 4k so obviously” are missing the point - the small amount of visual upgrade between upscaled 1080p and actual 4k on my brand new 4k tv is nothing compared to the upgrade you get by sticking with 1080 and getting higher fps, more visual effects, etc. 1080p games look absolutely

OLED prices have apparently fallen through the floor. One of the Bloomberg articles talks about that here:

...The fact that the console will support 4K does force us to pay more upfront whether we want the feature or not.

There have been other rumors that the next gen Switch will feature NVIDIA’s DLSS tech in which case it would likely be a form of upscaling… extremely good upscaling.
