I dont think it is because it is "expensive" for the American buyer. Here in Mexico we have all the Seats, and an FR Coupe Leon 6 speed 1.4 will cost around $25k. A fully loaded will go for $27k. The Cupra 265 is pricey at $32K (Same as Golf R). But I really dont think it is price when they are selling it in a country…
