Autopilot and full self driving are different options. Idiots falling sleep with autopilot thinking that it can full self drive is the problem. Full self driving IS intended to be level 5 autonomy... Eventually. Your buying the option now to receive the all of the iterative features to get there. Jalopnik wasn't won't

They still look happy, but now it’s a mischievous happy.

Maybe they didn’t pay attention, but when they were standing in line for a Model 3, Tesla was already taking orders for years on Models S and X with the exact same policy.

It’s not a cash grab if it’s always been their policy. People on here acting like Tesla just created a new deposit out of thin air to help get more money in the door, but they've literally always taken deposits when orders get placed into production queue.

They’re not yet taking deposits on the $35k model. This deposit is accepted when your order gets sent to production. Since they’re not producing $35k cars yet, they’re not taking $2,500 deposits for them.

Except this policy isn’t new. This has literally always been Tesla’s policy. You place a deposit to send your order to the production line.

I have a Jeep Wrangler now and it gets better gas mileage than that infiniti. Never had any problems with it though, so I’ll give it that.

Amen

If the roof is not removable at a minimum, it is not a Wrangler competitor. A removable roof (and doors) are half of the appeal of a Wrangler, the other half being its off road and modding capability. Otherwise it’s just a Cherokee competitor.

This isn’t true at all. Look into how the i3 is built. It weighs a lot less than a bolt, and is the most efficient ev on the market (doing the most with its available energy). BMW has also revolutionized construction and materials here, both in terms of sustainability (built on hydro and wind, use of recycled

The i3 is a blast to drive. Those numbers don’t tell the whole story. The instant torque and planted feel make it seem hotter than it is already. If you haven’t driven one, you’ll be surprised.

People keep pointing to the FJ, Xterra etc of examples of off roaders that failed to rival the wrangler - and maybe that was their intent but in order to make a true wrangler competitor THE ROOF HAS TO COME OFF. I don’t see how so many people miss this. The wrangler is one of the cheapest and/or most practical drop
