agreed. I miss single- and double-DIN units that could be swapped out.  My mini has a headunit which also acts as a built-in service advisor...  so its next to impossible to swap out.

if anything, it was a reverse-PIT where the BMW driver would have PIT’d himself against the front-passenger fender of the Tesla...

imagine the conversation we’d be having if there was gravel in the shoulder and the car spins and/or flips after losing control...

I wouldn’t say this is a must-have, but i would say its at the top of my extremely-nice-to-have list.

How about a 3rd pedal?  If that’s not accepted, I’ll go with some way to charge my phone.  I prefer old-school cigarette-lighter style ports because you can actually get good amperage out of them.  A lot of the newer cars with USB-A plugs just barely put out enough power to maintain a charge while the phone’s being

came here to say this. 50% TE of the engine is big but if its achieved by simply causing inefficiencies in other places, its not that useful of a development.

I wonder how quickly the carriers will turn off the collision warning systems? If my experience with these systems is anything to go by, the system will trigger every time the carrier pulls up to mailboxes right on the edge of the road.

Lane departure and its more annoying cousin, lane keeping assist. I had a Ford Fusion as a rental and it kept tugging the wheel any time it either lost track of the lane markings (which is quite often on less-well-maintained roads near me) or when I got too close to them in sharper corners. Absolutely HATED it and

If this would take the place of E85 at the pump (but be more widely available) then I’d love it.  If its only available at 5% of the pumps then I don’t see how this would provide much use.

Other than the Ovals using the infield as a trailer park during races, the main issue would be regarding car setup.

You take your star. I nearly spit out my coffee when I read this.

don’t mind Pierre’s pose, but mon dieu.  Yuki looks like a mannequin at macy’s that they didn’t have the time to set up correctly...

ran out of gas once. I was seconds away from my home and at the top of a hill. I had a choice; go right down hill A to my house or go straight down hill B and get to a gas station at the bottom of the hill (with a stoplight in the way).

I wouldn’t blame them. Though I would miss the poutine...

no he didn’t, thank gawd. he had a few sections constructed so he could stroke his tiny dick with his tiny hands. Its not contiguous like he claimed and we’re, unfortunately, still paying for it.

I will never forget the opportunity I got a couple years back to drive an LFA. It wasn’t the special edition but I still was astounded. I never got much speed up but I did hammer through 1st and a bit of second. The sound. OH GOD THE SOUND! I can still recall the goosebumps it gave me. I also distinctly remember

I could theoretically see touchpads somewhere your hand naturally falls (i.e. the steering wheel or the center console) as a good idea. that would only be the case if the user interface is intuitive. keep things drivers access most often (i.e. cabin temperature, fan speed, and defrost) very quick to change.

is there a reason you folks refuse to call them microchips or computer chips (their proper names)?

an old 60's convertible.  Like an MG or Alfa.  Something that needs more power but can’t fit a straight six because of a small engine bay.

I wonder what an F1-IndyCar demonstration would do? Takes something that’s familiar in the US and shows its “European parallel” even though that not REALLY the case.
