I tried to find out why rear view mirror screens wouldn’t work( the most unobtrusive) and could not make sense of the rule, it’s ridiculous..

I’m on the side that likes this style of infotainment display (since it now needed due to back up camera regulations). It’s thin and vertical, designed in the field of vision so you don’t need to look down all while keeping the overall dash low (compared to some that make a hump behind the unit). I’d prefer the back

It may look awkward in photos, but in actual use it’s very nice because it’s at the same level as the gauges. You just glance over. You aren’t having to move your eyes down from the road to look at the screen like on VWs, for example.
