I’d totally forgotten about Susan. That was truly a great moment in TV history. The seen at the hospital. Dark.

I have filthy clothes because I have a dog and live in a hot place. But I never use heat and use next to no detergent. Literally, I use a tablespoon of normal detergent for a load. But my clothes come out smelling new because I don’t overload the washer. I know it’s more expensive and not environmentally friendly. But…
Selfies in cars? I don’t even know what that means. That is definitely not something people are doing where I live. What does that even look like?
Fair enough. I admit I haven’t read a lot of women’s profiles.
Why would they ask these questions? Firstly, because any one of these questions could, potentially, be “justified by a business purpose”. Secondly, because any of the these questions could, accidentally, come up as part of small talk. In both those cases the employer is protected.
You are just wrong. Did you even read the article and links I provided? This is the law as it is written:
Four things that I keep seeing men do online that drive me crazy (not in a good way):
The article is quite simple wrong. Multiple commenters, besides myself, have pointed this out. It is NOT illegal to ask these questions. It is only illegal to make hiring decisions based on responses. http://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_po…
As someone else pointed out, they are allowed to ask about all those things. They just can’t make hiring decisions based on that information.
Watching this clip I am reminded of is what a creepy, off-putting person Josh Duggar is even if you don’t know anything about him or his family. Let’s be honest, if this guy hadn’t had a marriage arranged for him by people with access to a brain-washed, essentially captive young girl he’d be shit out of luck. Very…
I remember that case. She wasn’t suing to bring her guinea pig to classes. She was suing to be able to bring him to the dining hall, and other places in the dormitory where she lived. And, technically, she was right because the law does state that you can keep your therapy animal (which was what the gp was) in the…
I get sexually harassed on the street if I DON’T wear makeup. I think it’s because I look too young/poor.
Stop trying to make “fee” happen. It’s not going to happen.
My take on bold eyeliner relates to my last comment, which concerns the dangers of over-perfecting the skin. Bold eyeliner often doesn’t look as good when you don’t go for this matte finish. And not everyone can wear this matter finish. Some people’s skin doesn’t take it. And some people look older in it. Most people…
I have to point out that these “afters” demonstrate a very serious problem that I think primer, which let’s you achieve more perfect coverage, presents: all of these women look older in the after photos. Yes, they look more polished. But they also look older. I think for most people there’s a tradeoff: perfect your…
Let’s be honest about what this is about: money. People hate paying women for their labor. That’s true when people are making between 10 - 20 dollars an hour and it’s true when people are making 10 - 20 grand a film. You want to hire younger because you pay the younger actress a tenth of what you’d pay an actress like…
This is all true. I still like Chris Pratt because he still seems like a pretty sweet guy. (Who knows. But that’s his public persona.) But you can be a sweet lovable guy and still end up doing fucked up shit because of your white male privilege. Hopefully Pratt just needed to get some negative feedback for his antics…
We’re still not talking about this enough. I remember this got brought up on a thread here a long time ago and so many people wrote to say “No. This doesn’t happen. I know because I/my boyfriend/my husband trained as an OBGYN.” Even though you have legislation addressing the real and ongoing practice.
This is an interesting remark on the culture at this school. But I would say that often students’ being, as a group, immature and unable to accurately evaluate the relative severity of a problem goes hand in hand with abuse. I don’t know if students like that are more likely to be abused, or if the quibbling is a…
