Yooooo, forgot to put this in the WAYPTW, but there is a special Games Done Quick event this weekend to support Houston. https://gamesdonequick.com Lots of good games on the schedule (Breath of the Wild all dungeons run, a Link to the Past race where one player won’t use the sword and the other will have randomized

Hey Gameologerinos who survived the Kinjapocalypse! I’d like to remind you all that our wonderful Steam group is still around, and we’re still running our monthly-ish book club for video games, the Revue Club. In this edition, we’re talking about futuristic third-person shooter Binary Domain. So grab a rifle, give a

I made it! I guess this Kinja thing isn’t so bad after al....I couldn’t finish, sorry.

Whenever I played Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, I always picked Donut Plains 3 or Mount Wario because I knew two great shortcuts on each one. Always ended up in first. The Switch release was frustrating because those shortcuts were eliminated with the inclusion of these ridiculous invisible walls.

I had thought I preferred Maka Wuhu to Mt. Wario, which I’m generally ambivalent on (I like the three-legged tracks, but MW is a bit chaotic for my taste), but I foudupon returning to Maka Wuhu that it was far more simplistic than I’d remembered, and yes, Mt. Wario is superior.

I get the feeling we could talk Mario Kart tracks every week and never really run out of things to discuss, the courses are so tightly designed, packed full of secrets, and of course replayable. Even Grumble Volcano, which generally gives me fits, has its own evil, evil charm.

My goal is to one day get a comment on one of these articles. I missed the Mario Kart one until a day or 2 had passed and Kinja didn’t let me load the comments so I think I was able to squeak a comment or 2 in. But I completely agree with DL’s take on Baby Park. Love that track. I said it on the article, but Mount

On the docket for this weekend:

We’re still here! A few folks have moved on, but you’ll still find many of the familiar avatars from the last site. Have you checked out the Kinjamprove Chrome extension? The indented threading and collapsing features are incredibly valuable to me. Really the only things I miss from Disqus at present are the email

RPG Maker Fes update:

I bought a Wii U from eBay last week, to catch up on all MarioZeldaVania games I’ve missed over the decades (my last Nintendo console was the 64), and I’ve been playing Twilight Princess HD.

Almost certainly will be playing Mario+Rabbids this weekend. As someone who enjoys X-COM but finds it all a little overwhelming, M+R is a great fit. The UI is slick and the combat is satisfying and surprisingly challenging. I’ve just beaten the first world (of four), and while I’ve never been in danger of being wiped

Hey folks. This past week has been mostly Overwatch, with a touch of Tacoma on the side. I ran through all ten placement matches last night for Season 6 of Competitive Overwatch, and found myself only 100 points lower than my ending rating from Season 5. I had heard that they were removing the rollback mechanism that

No, still regular. Wouldn’t be as big a deal if my armor was upgraded, but reloading can be a pain. Maybe it’s just me. I can’t remember if I timed it with the initial flash or the final beep.

So I wasn’t here for last week’s big change to whatever this is. It looks like it’s not very good. I assume that’s the general consensus?

Hey, Chum Joely here, can’t figure out how to set up an account under my own name since Kinja was apparently kind enough to keep my username in their system (thereby reserving it), but won’t let me use the password because password recovery is apparently not a thing with their “burner accounts”. (Maybe I missed some

Like the past couple weeks, it’s pretty much been DS Castlevania time, with finishing Portrait of Ruin and onto Order of Ecclesia. One thing I should’ve done more with the former is use Charlotte more; I have a tendency when playing it to just use Jonathan, because the game incentivizes upgrading his sub-weapons but

One wrap-up and one game in progress this week:

This weekend I’ll be playing Sonic Mania with my wife and Mario + Rabbids on my own. Both are games that I had very little interest in prior to release, but the press on release was so good that I was tempted in. Both were extremely good purchase decisions, as they’re spectacular! In the former, I’m working my way

I just got Breath of the Wild yesterday. Didn’t get the chance to play much but I’m enjoying it. Super overwhelmed though.
