True enough! It would take a lot longer than 1 hour to properly cover all the nonsense that's happened this year, though.

I've already watched that about half a dozen times! I love that show, especially Newswipe. But sadly, I don't think he's gonna do any more that cover more recent things, what with all the Black Mirrors and such.
The gameplay is that genre I don't remember the name of. Action with a bit of platformer I guess? You smack baddies and sometimes bosses around and jump on platforms. You have ranged weapons and melee weapons which you can upgrade, and you can also apply upgrades to yourself (extra health etc). The game seems to want…
I've played a bit of Deadly Tower of Monsters. I found it quite easy to get into, even though I suck at it. The B-movie style of it is a lot of fun - plenty of hammy acting and idiocy from the director. The structure of it I find rather neat - you progress rather linearly, but in addition to having the whole…
Don't make me panic like this Gameological! When this wasn't up by lunch I got really worried!
Speaking of which, my colleague brought in Codenames and we've been playing that in lunchbreaks. It's quite enjoyable, and we're taking it in turns to be spymaster. I've tried spymastering twice and lost both times - I am…
I realize this question is all about America and stuff, but does anyone have any suggestions for Brit-focused satire? I find myself unable to cope with the news without satire being there to make me laugh rather than just upset me.
I liked the Flophouse episode about this, which made the movie sound like it was accidentally The Truman Show. Interesting to see the different focuses of the two Flop takes on it - this one focusing on the main character's life being a wreck, The Flophouse focusing on how crazy the movie's premise is.
It would be quite nice to bring games like this into the limelight.
But, why first person? The article seems to suggest that the third person view is part of why the game works so well, and it would certainly be part of what makes it unique. So why would first person be preferable - simply because it is commonly used…
That "Moon alphabet" ball thing is like some crazy sci-fi gearpunk thing.
Speaking of cool stories that aren't exactly related to games, Eurogamer had an article about this for some reason:
https://twitter.com/mwichar…
Okay, the article also mentioned a keyboard-based game, but that was clearly an excuse to mention the typewriter museum.
Wow, that soundtrack is right up my alley!
*checks info*
Yup, still Playstation exclusive…
*sigh*
Excellent choice - I've not yet started my copy of the game, but I still have some of the night-time tracks extended to ridiculous length for "chill-out" music.
The Flu is pretty scary!
It was very interesting this week for me to read these in-depth discussions of games I knew nothing about (didn't even know that The Thing game existed). I have to experience these things vicariously, since I am too much of a wuss to play them myself. When I was younger I actually stopped playing Endless Ocean because…
Well, this week I have been playing The Witness. This game really takes its puzzle type, the line puzzle, and raises it to an art form. The feeling of learning how to solve a new spin on the puzzles is pretty great.
Unfortunately, my happiness with this awesome game is severely tempered.
Playing this game for longer…
I think Joss Whedon has a nice house and cool friends
I've made a note in my diary so I can start the bitching right on schedule!
Between Mark Kermode's review and this one here, I'm spoilt for choice in terms of entertaining reviews. Not to mention the excerpts of Brown's quality writing that people are posting in the comments.
Every time I come across a review of the books/movies, I'm reminded of a show that used to be on TV where contestants…
Reads like a barrage of entries to the Bulwer-Lytton contest.
Any particular genres? There's lots to recommend, but I suck at remembering unless there's a genre to prompt me.
Actually, since your original question was anime people "want" to recommend, I will mention Tatami Galaxy, since I always want to recommend that. Unfortunately it's usually a terrible recommendation since it…
