I know, right? I am always compelled to complete every single quest before moving to the next rank, so all these stupid gathering quests destroyed me. I had a huge rant about it in last week's thread. I think that they have actually damaged my enjoyment of even the good bits, since despite now having proper monster

Quick question for you, Shinigami Apple Merchant. Have you noticed that there's a specific typeface for Japanese imports with odd and unusual stories? I'm talking specifically about Deadly Premonition and Zero Time Dilemma (also let's mention Swery's next game D4). Though I'm familiar with the two games mostly through

Well, I have kind of been getting tired of playing my games recently. Pokemon Go is losing its excitement for me a bit.

By that you mean the interview was conducted inside an Australian satellite and he stormed out into space.
Right?

This film is totally relevant to my interests! If only I could find a place to see it. It was showing in Edinburgh a month ago, but I don't see any other UK showings. Of course, I could probably stream it or wait for a Dvd (?), but it seems like it would be much more powerful on a big screen.

That would be cool! I've never got into competitive Pokemon, but if there are random unusual rules that encourage interesting teams (ie we'd have to create a team specifically for that tournament), that would be kinda fun.

MH4U you say?
Actually, I've always wanted to start an AV Club Monster Hunter group, but I fear timezones would lock me out of joining in. At least I should have decent WiFi by this weekend.

In addition to what others have said about this, I think that the new "easiness" of games is not always inherent in the game. Older games expected you to figure things out for yourself - whether as a design choice, or through lack of technical possibilities for explaining things to you. But now, everyone is easily

Yeah, Zhubin is a pretty good guest host. I enjoyed hearing about what Nic Cage is up to these days, and I'm looking forward to the follow up holidays, Cagemas in August, Smallcagevtember, and the Cagemas Shocktober Special.

You know, I never got round to finishing it - I thought the pilot was not great, but the first actual episode was an improvement. I like Steven Mangan, though he didn't quite fit my idea of the character, but then that hardly ever happens in an adaptation. Thanks for reminding me to finish that, actually.

Well, the book is perhaps my favourite book ever, so there's no way any TV series can live up to that. I've got to speak in generalizations because the trailer can't be viewed here in Britain. But if there is as much shouting as described, I am very apprehensive indeed. The original book was often very quiet and

Alternatively: spend ages learning how to RNG manipulate the Pokemon in earlier versions.

I hope this means the end of resetting for hours to get a decent Legendary Pokemon!

Seems like there is an odd trend of the Digimon inexplicably getting trousers for one evolution, and only one evolution.

Metal Gear?!

Movement in actual 3D space in videogames is so difficult though… that's why I think the jumping and increased verticality of 4 onwards is a natural progression - movement in actual 3D space, but much more restricted and therefore tighter and more responsive.

I think my WAYPTW post/Monster Hunter rant was a bit too long, but I do wanna keep noting the game music I'm listening to this week, so I guess I'll do it here.

You know, I would have been scared off by the title (as I should have been) if it didn't contain that short reassurance that the tweet really was funny. Something about it made me think that, I don't know, a person wrote this, rather than a robot.
And then I find out it's all a trick!!
Shame on you, AV Club. And shame

Well, I've had a pretty great week in Pokemon Go, caught some rare Pokemon, fought some Gyms for the first time. I even found some interesting locations, like the birthplace of one of my favourite painters, and an old chocolate factory (still smells of chocolate!). I still really enjoy the game, the novelty hasn't

I would tell you to pick up the slightly less current HeartGold/SoulSilver or Black 2/White 2, but those are now crazy expensive. Both sets of Gen 6 games X/Y and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire are pretty great places to start, though. Personally, I thought X/Y did a great job of refreshing the franchise, and
