I think these are either RWD or AWD. I don’t believe they are “wrong wheel drive” as you suggest.

My NC Miata has the same type:
I don’t need a daily driver, it’d be mostly for fun.
I would blame the stability and traction control nannies before I blame transmission. It used to take immense amounts of skill to drive cars like this fast.
Wow. Definitely cringe worthy. I don’t think any of the events I’ve been to would allow this jackass on track. But it does prove how just how advanced electronic nannies are today.
Too soon.
Who on Jalopnik hates video games? I understand disliking them or not playing them, but hating? That’s a strong word.
I’ll take the Formula Ford and the Previa that’s parked next to it.
That Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed video was a huge nostalgia bomb. I used to play that game for hours. The cars, tracks, and career mode were all awesome! Graphics were top notch for its time and still look decent today.
Early morning driving with the top down and when the sun is just coming up and the temperature is between 60-75 deg Fahrenheit and I’m on a nice twisty scenic road and I’m heading somewhere with no particular destination in mind.
How much better would it be with a manual?
Everything you say about tracking motorcycles is true. However, it requires much more physical stamina and strength than operating a car on track. Most of the guys I see at car track days would need to spend some time getting in shape before having fun at a bike track event.
Wow - the 911 in your comparison link weighs only about 80 pounds more than the Boxster. I had no idea the 911 was that light.
Monkey is not a huge Miata fan. In fact, he feels the need to place a brown paper bag over his head whenever he drives one. In spite of this, I still love him.
This looks like a Blipshift t-shirt idea to me...
Yes! I went from a 250cc Kawi Ninja to a 750cc Honda VFR. Can confirm that small and nimble with less power is much more fun on the street. That also explains the Miata in my garage.
I'll throw another couple movies into the ring that are far more gritty and realistic than Hurt Locker. Stalingrad and Iron Cross are two great ones. Don't get me wrong, I love Hurt Locker, but there are far more gritty, realistic war films that came out over 20 years ago.
I was relieved to see that the 540 had an automatic transmission. I really can't spend any more money on cars right now.
I want this. Badly.
Cool analogy. As someone who know nothing about musical instruments/technology, I found it really interesting. Thanks for posting!
