Can’t wait until the mid-2030s when I’ll actually be able to afford a neglected 150K+ mile example with 5 previous owners, mismatched tires, bent rims, slipping transmission, malfunctioning sensors, A/C that just needs a “recharge”, and an assortment of aftermarket parts of questionable taste sourced from Pep Boys.

I own a manual 996 C2 and there is no comparison. I’d even say my FWD Saab 9-5 Aero wagon outhandles it.

My mom has a base 2.0 Macan w/o PASM on 19" wheels which I’ve driven several times. Nothing sporty about it, brake dive is hilarious and tires squeal at even the thought of a corner. Just another crossover that sells thanks to "sporty" styling and perceived sportiness because, y’know, Porsche. Any halfway decent

The problem is that most new car buyers still remember the wood-paneled wagons they were carted around in as kids, so naturally they want no part of them. But millennials and even most gen X-ers grew up in minivans and SUVs. Just look at any school drop-off section and tell me the number of wagons you see. Zero. Mark

I used to have a 2000 9-5 V6t and I agree, I don’t get the V6 hate. Extremely smooth, good low-end torque, great highway cruiser. The asymmetrical turbocharging was actually a great idea.

Yes, this is one of the reasons I love Saabs. Crappy 0-60 but ridiculously quick overtaking acceleration. 50-90 in my 9-5 Aero feels almost as quick as my 996 C2.

I voted CP just because I’m personally biased against any BMW SUV. Yeah, I’m like that.

I think it’s exactly because the leather is soft and comfortable. In my experience, most cars whose leather seats still look new at over 100K have uncomfortable, hard seats with no "give".

Not many cars named after Saints either. Anyone remember the Dodge St. Regis?

Correct take. And the use of "Sport" in its name is downright cynical.

Never got a speeding ticket in 12 years of driving despite being an, ahem, spirited driver. Seems my 9-5 wagon is completely invisible to the police. Noticed significantly more police attention/suspicion with all my previous cars (E46 coupe, GTI, and X-Type), and my mom managed to get 2 tickets in her Macan despite

I live out in Palm Desert, a place that gets about 100 days over 100. Heatsoak is a way of life...

Airplane! still makes my list of the top 5 comedy movies of all time.

Invest a few grand in the Saab if need be and keep it. Can’t beat those seats and the rear cargo space. Their increasing rarity as many are being junked is a bonus.

I’m 5'11 and actually find ingress/egress easier in a normal car. It just feels easy and natural. It’s impossible to climb out of an SUV/CUV without touching the sill and staining your pants.

It’s slow and FWD, yet the cool factor is through the roof. Great colors, Inca wheels, and, having first-hand experience, I can confirm those seats are incredibly comfortable. NP

As a 9-5 wagon owner, I was waiting for someone to spot the similarity ;)

The Ferrari 456GT Venice wagon with its 5.5L V12 would like to have a word with you. There’s been 7 built and most are still being spotted in the UK.

Exactly, even if they have the money and want luxuries like cooled/heated seats, they will still seek the “tough” image, which a BMW does not have.
