I live in Palm Springs and honestly, I’m not even sure if the heater works on my car. Max Cold and Ventilated Seats on all year round. Before you get too envious, remember we have to suffer through 3 months of hell, also known as “summer” for you folks in temperate climates.

Good point, but to me (and probably others), it boils down to ‘feel’. A supercar feels special - you’re sitting down low, you hear that rumble behind you, you touch that carbon fiber in the interior. A heavy, high-riding Tesla (or any of the other SUVs in this race) does absolutely nothing for me. I’ll keep my slow,

I really like these and would totally buy one, EXCEPT that I’ll be driving my 07 Saab 9-5 Aero SportCombi until its wheels fall off. And even then, I’ll probably fix it because of ‘emotional attachment’ or whatever they call it.

This is a serious issue only because Americans prefer pickups over cargo vans, which make far more sense...

Usually indifference, seems like most girls aren’t all that impressed when I launch into extolling the virtues of wagons. Although I have to say that mostly everyone is amazed that it’s a 2007 and not a more recent model (it might be because I keep it in excellent shape).

Laugh at the Aztek all you want, but it’s the closest any automaker has ever gotten to actually putting a concept car into production. We need more wacky cars with novel left-field ideas out on the streets, even if they happen to be ugly.

I’m 28 and single, yet this has been my primary car for the past 4 years:

It’s crucial to remember that even if you do make good cars—the best cars, even—you can still go out of business.”

The point here is that you don’t need much more than AWD, appropriate tires, and about 6" of ground clearance to tackle most off-roading. Unless you’re rock crawling or wading through deep water, you don’t need that oh-so-fashionable SUV/CUV/Pickup.

9-5 Aero wagons are the best-kept automotive secret. Serious rolling acceleration is just a simple ECU tune away, seats are damn-near perfect, and the cargo area is downright cavernous. On one particular occassion, I was able to comfortably fit a 72" tall bookcase (with the seats folded) that my friend’s 2016

Once you go black, you don’t go back.

I’m a member of both the Saab Club of North America and Saab Club of California. Used to also be a member of my local PCA faction, but really didn’t like the snobbishness and “vibe”, Saab people are way friendlier and cooler :)

Thank you for posting this - I was born about 20 years after its release and no one believes me when I tell them it’s the best car movie out there. No distractions, no BS subplots or dialogue, just 90 minutes of driving action and psychological head games between the two drivers.

Spookiest thing you’ll ever see when you start up the car.

To me, all this means is shorter vehicle lifetimes and the increased view of a car being “disposable”. Combined with easy financing, new-ish cars will make up an increasing percentage on our roads.

That’s why I always have 3 or 4 cars. No matter how unreliable they are, one is bound to start and get me to work.

Consumer Reports? I mean, sure, I might use them when I’m purchasing home appliances, but as far as cars go, their reports are next to useless. Then again, I don’t give a crap about reliability.

9-5s are torque limited in 1st and 2nd, couple that will FWD and you have a recipe for slow 0-60. However, when full boost comes online in 3rd gear, and aerodynamics become important (the 9-5 sedan had a better Cd than the 996 Porsche) it makes for amazing high-speed acceleration, especially since there are fewer

Agreed, 30-70 or 40-80 overtaking times are very underutilized, and more representative of real-world acceleration than 0-60. It’s precisely why I drive a Saab.

Doesn’t look like it has much cargo space, and the lift worries me. Wagons are supposed to be large (practical) and low. Guess I’ll always be on the lookout for a well-maintained 850R, V70R, 9-5 Aero, E55 AMG or E39 540i...
