Gender bias is inherent in many modern forms of media. It's not just integral to video games. Especially since video games tap into other media for licensed IPs.

They've gotten a ton of money for very little start up risk based on the tech of their games to date. When they start risking more financially you'll see the amount of effort they put into post gold support falter in favor of current and future projects.
