This fills me with joy and jealousy! Jealousy because I was a pretty serious runner prior to pregnancy, and now, in the third trimester, can only manage about 10-15 minutes of slow slow jogging. But Alysia Montano is a professional, so, not comparable. Anyway, more than jealous, this fills me with JOY that she knew

Outside it is cold . . . but inside . . .its still cold.

Watching Kris Jenner on KUWTK is my weekly reminder of why I am not close with my narcissistic mother. Every time Kris has a conflict with someone, or someone is upset with her for LEGIT reasons, she retreats into the "I DID IT BECAUSE I LOVE MY FAMILY." That woman cannot admit fault or blame. She is alienating her

satin kulats are an excellent description! A+

I love Billy Joel. And I hate to diminish good deeds, but helping a fallen person when you are driving past them is not really . . .extraordinary? Just common decency? Like, if he hadn't done it, we'd all be like "what a douche-bag!" Well, I guess way to be a celebrity who is also still a member of real life society!

I know attending physicians (ie Ladies with Big Powerful Jobs) who read Danielle Steele. Keep your mean stereotypes to yourself.

You made me want to cry happy and sad tears in one lovely story.

We weren't really running the world until the 20th century (Maybe Latin America after the Mexican-American War). But, you know, whatever. I guess the t-shirt just pronounces its own ignorance in a number of ways.

My mind is being blown right now by both etymology AND entomology.

It just occurred to me that "nit-picking" refers to what Americans call lice, but we never changed the colloquialism to "lice-picking" and thus the expression always seemed a bit more removed and polite than the actual action implies. And now that phrase makes infinite amounts more sense to me. Thanks to you. And my

I think your comment is a better analysis of this data than simply saying "having more kids sucks" . . .I believe the article that I read here a while ago, which said: for couples that want and plan for kids, kids make them happier. For couples or singles that stumble into it and don't really want them, kids make them

Careerist parents can't win! Thanks for the sympathy, though. Also thanks for sharing deep thoughts on Britney Spears.

Totally agree about how Britney gets going because thats what she was taught to do and has done since she was little. I pretty much feel the same way in my current career. I was groomed under pressure of my parents for it, and now I'm pretty good at it, but I think my engagement is (I keep returning to this adjective)

Yeah, I don't think the situations are comparable. As you mention, Britney's parents are not tabloid-hungry fame monsters. Britney had one very public meltdown, followed by a few years of lackluster performances (betraying an ongoing struggle). But she SHOWED UP to her lackluster performances. Lohan does not show up.

"love goblin" is pretty much how I feel about my fetus. Very happy its there. But oh so energy sucking and kicky.

"maybe mom is an academic"? I don't follow.

Right. Pregnancy is right up there on the list of "stressful life events" with marriage, divorce, incarceration, and losing your job . . .even under the best circumstances (planned, stable family, stable income) it's still going to create a lot of stress. I bet if cortisol is to blame, its got to be a really skewed

For your sake and mine (I am pregnant, and also have signs of robust hormone levels and high cortisol) I don't think the link is so clear as to say that this is definitely the cause of autism. Its not anyone's fault. A child having autism is not a conscious or vindictive act on any parent's part. Don't blame yourself.

Most pediatricians do not treat their own children; it is frowned on for ethical, professional, and basic parenting reasons (ie you don't want your own kid associating you with discomfort). Your comment makes no sense.

I'm super impressed! I saw the doodle this morning but would have never guessed that an 11 year old made it.
