Why do people keep repeating the line “that’s not how evolution works!” as if that will make it true?

For one thing, yes, I have been hit on by a man (many men, in fact) where there was absolutely no chance in hell of me responding positively. Why did they do it? Entitlement, I’d wager. Perhaps wanting to put me “in my place”.

And how many of those songs have less than two co-writers? If Beyonce drops an ad-lib “yeah” on a track she gets a writing credit. But keep living in a fantasy world where this wikipedia category means that she’s doing the heavy lifting.

Sorry if my comment was inelegantly worded, but perhaps if you’d read the second half you’d be able to write a more specific criticism.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate and flip that around a bit; their incredible optimism and confidence is a strategy that’s effective if you look at it as a numbers game. But the article made a statement about all men. Why, in your brain, is it a somehow invalid or pathetic response to criticise a blanket statement?

Someone we know is in a band. His sister-in-law hosted a performance of the band in their backyard one summer evening that we were invited to. In all honesty, I have a sister living in Israel and a husband who travels in the US and I worry much more about the latter.

Fair point. The only places you hear about violence like this in America is in schools, churches, movie theatres, fast food restaurants, street corners, office buildings, quilting circles, swap meets and outside/inside police stations.
