I sell these things, so I do want to chime in and say that calling the 2009 facelift “dramatic” is a bit strong lol. I LOVE these trucks, but they’ve not changed a ton over the past 17 years (I had to double check because I didn’t think it’d been that long since the last gen...wow) of production.

This is critical context. I was not aware this is a thing, so I figured it was cobbled together. Knowing it’s very common and relatively straightforward makes me not worry about the quality.

Titan swaps are pretty common on Frontiers and Xterras.  It’s basically a bolt on swap.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Previous Pathfinder.  Not the sad excuse of a CUV that is now.  I had an 03, so the current model makes me sad... Even mine was Unibody, but at least it didn’t look like the current stationwagon.

In this case, there is nothing to show. You can get the parts from a Nissan dealer or a junkyard, then go and bolt them up directly.

I guess it is a thing if you don’t know, but isn’t if you do. I’m not picking on you; I just (clearly) am in that world, and it would never occur to me to question something like that.

Guys, there are almost zero comps for this truck on the market. This is a highly regarded package(esp. including mods) at a market fair price. The biggest detractor here is the year and not the mileage, imo.

It is, Titan-Swapping is huge in the Frontier community since the Titan and Frontier sit on almost identical frames. Some people even go past swapping the suspension and will drop in the Titan’s 5.6 V8, which bolts up to the transmission no problem.

I don’t follow truck prices that closely, however I bet in this environment, if a truck is well cared for and looks great, it’ll sell for over $10,000. Reluctant NP, not for me, but for someone in this market.

I had a ‘13 Xterra Pro4X with manual and I loved it, but yes, 17mpg at best, was horrible.

I believe the liability comes from the fact they’re selling modified vehicles. Doesn’t help they’ve created a culture (and a reality TV show) which glorifies these unlawful modifications. But I understand your point, there’s certainly some truth to it.

As an MK7 GTI owner, the fuel consumption is so damn good, I can’t understand why I’d have to put up with the weight penalty for a hybrid. My 3-door model with no sunroof / lighting package is UNDER 3000 lbs wet. Adding a hybrid powertrain will mean good things for the Green Party, but I feel the GTI will lose the

Am I missing something here? What’s the point of having a higher redline if you have to compromise size, weight, COG, torque, efficiency and reliability? Are Chevy’s smallblock pushrod engines some sort of statistical anomaly?

Sorry I’m late to the party but what about Audi’s 2.5L 5 cylinder? 400 hp and torque for days. One of the best engines ever

This effort feels like a half measure, like they almost did the right things, but then decided not to. Maybe not half-ass, like 3/4-ass. A little like the phrase:

Right? While it’s good that they have gotten more reliable, at the same time... having had those platforms SO long, it would be downright frightening if they were still struggling to build them right.

Jatco.

Don’t you think it would be more interesting if you were to actually try and talk to the folks that own these cars and get some stories out of it, rather than just speculate?

-I’ve only got a minute here in 1998. But I just wanted to tell you: Y2K was a total non-event. Don’t worry about that one.
