I haven't met the guys at BRAKIM but the Huebbes are definitely great people.

I have noticed that too, but the dude-bros have started migrating to rally more and more. Rallycrosses used to be a safe haven from them, but now you see dudes show up in WRXs with 12 lights raised 3" to clear the truck tires. It's like rally rice.

We must be of a similar age. I graduated high school in 2001, and the original WRX must have dropped around April of that year as a 2001 model. I remember a guy I severely disliked got one for graduation and drove it the last few weeks of school. I got my 2000 2.5 RS back in 05 when they were still kind of unloved.

This thread has reminded me why I quit going to car shows. I always leave angry!

Subarus are tough to own these days, as they have kind of become the Hondas of the late 90s. I've had a 2.5RS for almost 10 years that has gone from daily driver to rally beater. It has been interesting to watch the demographic of owners change over the years.

I believe they have all been updated in the last few years. All turbo motors, excluding the 2015 STI, now have direct injection and are completely new. The EJ series engines are about to be put to pasture.

I don't want to admit how much sense you are making. People spend incredible amounts of money on these things.

Did you mention the locker? Did I miss it? Isn't that part of the Pro-4X package? That seems like the only real reason I would spring for the Pro-4X over a lesser model. The rear locker in my Montero SR allows it to follow much more highly modified rigs to places I really shouldn't take it. it is one thing that really

That AE92...where did I come from? Did it happen to have two really ugly tre-spokes in place of the of the factory wheels? My first car was n AE92, a gts model, with a bent frame that inherited from my brother! That was 15 years ago though, probably no still around. Boy, could that car turn left!

Comment redacted. I did not know Orlove edited the post, which did not originally contain "flat" or "180-degree V."

Orlove, you have failed me for the last time. I didn't see the post in its original state. I redact all my comments. I apologize profusely for being an argumentive asshole.

For the record, since another poster called me on it: I don't agree with autoevolution's symantics. In my opinion both 180-degree Vs and boxers can be referred to as flat, but 180-degree Vs are not boxers. Boxer = flat but flat ≠ boxer

It blows my mind that you could post a large, clear picture of what is very obviously a flat-12, and still manage to write "V12" in the headline and all throughout the article. How can such an experienced writer screw up that hard?

So what you saying is that a 180-degree V is a flat engine, but Orlove's an idiot for calling a flat engine a 180-degree V. Got it.

No it doesn't.

Grr, how do I get un-grayed?

Looks can be deceiving. I am guessing you are making the common assumption that flat and boxer are interchangeable terms, which they are not (although most people don't realize that). Here is a link so you can brush up on the differences between 180 degree V (also called Flat) and boxer engine configurations.

here is a link explaining the differences:

I believe you are correct, and for those that don't know the difference, here I a link that explains it:

I just dribbled coffee down my shirt after that, but I think it was worth it.
