I’d say it’s worth it. It’s imperfect, and I feel like it just ended the first season with a bit of a whimper, but I found it entertaining for the most part.

I imagine many latter day Trek writers have cursed the people behind Trials and Tribble-lations for entering into canon that 23rd century Klingons actually did look different.

Saru’s great, and I would have been thrilled if he’d given the speech, or been made captain of the ship.

Tyler decides to leave with L’Rell, presumably because the writers realized they had no idea what do with his character or with the supposed groundbreaking technology they’d invented to justify his existence. I wondered briefly if the whole “we can make Klingons look like humans” would turn into a way to justify why

If you squint and you’re kind (or if you’ve been enjoying the ride thus far and see no reason to get off the train just yet), “Will You Take My Hand?” is an acceptable, even inspiring, season finale.

From the article:

In complete fairness, he’s been pretty damn busy in that time. He technically helped launch Agents of SHIELD, but the film projects he’s taken on haven’t exactly been small or uncomplicated.

Fair point. I was still using rotary phones in the 80s.

27 Fahrenheit? -2.7 Celsius?

Maybe it’s because of my age, but I feel the exact opposite.

Shiffrin’s Captain Marvel outfit is amazing.

Continuity is rather fluid nowadays

That’s even cooler - thanks!

This sounds pretty cool, but as a Marvel dude who hasn’t actively ready comics in a few years, I have a question:

I think there’s easier access now, but also increased competition.

I think in the 80s, the 60s seemed a lot more recent than, say, the 90s do today. I blame the smaller cultural landscape and ubiquity of reruns. It was a lot easier to be familiar with 20 year-old pop culture back then than it is today, so even the really dated stuff didn’t seem so dated (to a child).

I’d be 100% on board with Olympic bowling.

Curling is absolutely challenging.
