I haven’t seen any of the prequels since their original theatrical runs, but I...don’t remember Portman’s performance fondly. However, that’s almost completely due to the wretched dialogue. Few actors could take that material and elevate it, and Portman wasn’t able to do so.

...you know what? It just occurred to me that we might be talking about different people. Detmer is this one. If you’re talking about her, I assume her cybernetics are some sort of prosthetic as a result of injuries sustained at the Battle of the Binary Stars, since she didn’t have them in the pilot.

Except he clearly stated that the sources were both anonymous and unconfirmed, which removes any ambiguity.

I’m not well-versed in Tesla’s autopilot...does it really not have some kind of RADAR/LIDAR/forward-facing sensor that searches for obstacles?

Come on, do you really not know how this works?

Pretty much, yeah.

I’ll defend the full Pirates trilogy. It’s a mess, but it’s a fun mess throughout.

Yeah, I’ve heard that the AA back catalogue is in pretty rough shape.

I think the reality of the situation is that, given the fact that it’s an IP that attracts a disproportionate share of obsessive fans (not meant as an insult), and given that there is a built-in week between each episode, a large number of people were going to figure it out, even if there had been a single, obscure

Nope, all Star Trek rights are held by Bell Media, one of our big media corps. They run CraveTV, and also own Space, our equivalent to Syfy that airs Discovery on Sunday nights.

On the other hand, if we want to stream any Star Trek, we have to subscribe to CraveTV, which...maybe it’s not as bad as All Access, but it would be a stretch to call it “good.” Their website uses Flash for its video.

Yeah, I think this show could actually use more filler.

Also Lost.

Supposedly, one of the showrunners said that the panel calling Stamets the chief engineer was an error. I don’t think I’ve seen a direct source on that, though.

Oh for sure, Starfleet has a rich history of making decisions that a real military would not. I guess I just don’t feel like it’s been earned yet, but I’m open to it happening in the future.

I honestly find it interesting that people are willing to believe that anyone would undergo simple cosmetic surgery to masquerade as a completely different species, in an age where wireless medical scanners are ubiquitous, and expect to successfully infiltrate anything.

I simply meant that it wasn’t very big. I’m no astronomer.

I don’t. I’m all for redemption arcs, but Burnham still has to get herself properly re-admitted to Starfleet, which should be hard enough without angling for a command.

She has a name! It’s Detmer! I mostly know this from the tie-in novel, not the show!

As I understand it, if your post gets starred (or replied to?) by someone who’s not in the greys, that post gets pulled out of the greys.
