The one objection I can see is that unlike human scammers who take lunch breaks and go home to sleep the computer will never stop calling... 24/7, 365, until the system is out of budget or breaks down. And people as workers cost more than computers as workers do.

If people bought only what they could afford the US economy would most likely go into recession almost immediately. A lot of it is riding on poor spending habits, long term financing / payment plans, and monthly subscriptions.

Most of the dealers I have talked to have a computer where at a certain interest rate they hash out the monthly payments, the cost of interest over term, and how many months of payments there are.

I have yet to see a backup camera system that can peer around the two SUVs that inevitably park next to me.
